I’ve tried DosBOX but could never get it working right. I just want some sort of emulator that I can use to play an old game or use an old program within XP in a window (not full screen). Or is there a way to do this right from XP?
Dosbox is the only thing really capable of doing that. Unfortunatly you can no do it right through XP alone.
that sucks. i’d really like to play rise of the triad again. i miss the dos prompt.
Rise of the Triad was so friggin awesome. I still have the CD laying around for it, I really need to reload it again. Pretty sure it works with DosBox if I recall.
Dog mode was such ownage.
And the Excalibat.
And the flame wall.
And the fire bomb
And god mode
And all the easter eggs
Dopefish mode was sweet too.
Multiplayer was awesome too.
EDIT: oh yeah was was the issue you had with DosBox?
 ROTT was awesome. shooting a guy and then him begging for mercy… if you didn’t kill him then he’d turn aound and start shooting at you.
shrooms mode made me sick
oh and \EKG rockzored
oh, and I’d just like to be able to use a window opposed to full screen mode… could never seem to get it to do that… I think a new version is out so I’ll try that
someone get ROTT installed and we’re having a GTG.
What about using a dos boot disk? Or better yet, if your bios supports it, install 98 on a USB jump drive and boot from that.
I concur, once I get back from Ohio this will be a top priority! ROTT lan-party ahoy
Usually in DosBox you can just hit alt-enter to use windowed mode.

Hmm I should try this. I want to play Under a Killing Moon again.
couldn’t you just boot a freedos cdrom, then run real dos to play your game.
yeah, but I wanted to run it in an XP shell in a window ( :snky: :snky: )… work gets boaring when waiting for answers sometimes
well, being that it’s at work… I was able to install dosbox as a portible U3 app on my U3 drive with package factory so no installing or no mess

Pfftt… no game comes close to the destructive force of these weapons. At least recently
And for even better news!!! Presenting WinRottGL, no need for dosbox!
is it like doom32 (or whatever it was called, the 3d/opengl windows version of the original doom and doom2)? I’m gonna try it tomorrow… deathmatches ftw
money
btw, remember simant? played it for like 2 hours today without even realizing it. Still alot of older games worth playing
