so my parents just bought me a valentine one… i didnt encounter that mnay police 2day except one… i was driving and he was coming towards me…nothing…then it jjust went full alert… it seems to pick up a ton of false alarms…(X-band).
As of right now… im not too impressed with it. my cobra seemed just as good.

the reason it went from nothing to full alert is because he didn’t have his radar on until you were close, then he switched it on when he saw you. It’s called instant on and it is covered in the manual.
to get rid of all the random crap, hold the mut button down until the “A” turns into a small “L”, then release it and hold it down again till it turns into a big “L”. It filters out all but the strongest X band and is called advanced logic mode. It is also covered in the manual.

this thing has saved me well over 1k in tickets so far i have no complaints what so ever. at first it seem shitty like the first day or 2 then i read the manual learned how to use it well … i’d never use anything else

$30 here lo;, but really they are great units. It is just like any other detector, you need to set it up, and then get used to how it behaves
fwiw i keep mine on the the little L. this still registers the x band, and alerst only once, then mutes the strength of the signal. sometimes i will pick up an x signal right before i get K, and on a few occasions Ka. this seems to get me better pick ups even over other people with valentine 1’s i might be crusing with.
where you place the unit make s difference too…but there are different camps of thought on that.

my old Passport 4600 and now X50 both do this periodically. it gives me a little heads up when it goes off weak X in an area i know normally has nothing. pretty shortly there after it starts hitting K.

whenever I’m in a car with one I give the play by play with the arrows.
“They’re ahead of us, they’re to the left OR THE RIGHT of us, they’re behind us!” It gets really annoying. I did this until I was told that it was mostly the store security radio signals.

if u look at any radar test, the Valintine 1 beats/loses to the Escort Passport 8500 by 1 tenth of a point…to be honest, i don’t see where 1 tenth of a point makes that much of a difference in the real world to where it is worth the exta $10 or so for the Valrntine…
not like i work at a place that sells Escort stuff though :snky:

radar detectors are worthless. all everyone needs to do is drive the speed limit like i do, and youll be fine.
Sick Sixx racing…will race to the speed limit.

but i dont speed anymore. ive found tickets to be more expensive than any radar detector.
