ok so my head gasket blew so i have been replaceing it over the winter. Ive gotten everything together and the timing belt on. After i got the belt on i went to crank my engine and it did about 3 times until the valves on the number 3 cylinder exhaust side got stuck and wouldnt go down all the way
the timeing was right so i took my camshaft off to have a look at the problem i took a magnet and could take all my hydraulic lifters out except for the 2nd one on the 3rd cylinder right where my head gasket blew and coolant leaked.
my question is how can i get that valve unstuck mabye a penitrating lube or something i dont know im not too familar with valves but im assuming that there is corrosion going on with that one
do i have to take my head off and start all over again?
I’d try penetrating lube first and see if you can’t work the valve loose. Or you can try tapping it LIGHTLY with a hammer but don’t mushroom it or anything.
Are you sure everything is in right and put together right? You didn’t force anything did you? You have to wonder and find out what made the valve do that, vavle don’t just stick for no reason.
When you took the head off, was there any scoring or little scratches on the #3 piston? If so, you have bent valves.
So when you turn it over the cam lobe sweeps the rocker arm and the passes, and then the rocker arm doesn’t come back up? The valve just stays down? Are your little lash pads still on top of the valve springs?
