Hey Guys, Im trying to organize a list of parts that i need to pull the head
and replace however many bent valves i have. Does this look about right?

Headgasket
Valve Seals
Cam Cap (mine is leaking)
Cam seals on the cam gear side
How ever many new valves
Intake manifold Gasket

hey guys, well the thing us honda guys all fear happened to me, timing belt busted.
i put the new tensioner, pump and belt on and started but sounded like crap.

pulled it back apart, adjusted valves, checked plugs and distributor.
one thing thats weird which made me think i didnt have it timed
right was i had to turn the distributor all the way towards the
front pf the car to get at 18degrees. any closer to the firewall
and it was over.

im thinking the inevitable happend and i bent some valves.
just wanted to verify i have it lined up correctly.
does this look right to you guys. thanks guys, chris

Shoulda looked in the parts bin. I’ve got a brand new oem belt for sale. Yes the marks look correct.

i know, saw it. i picked this one up a couple weeks ago. like the day after you posted!
well i guess ill put it backk together and compression
check it to verify which valves are bent.

would a bent valve situation throw your timing way off?

Also you want the distributer at 16* not 18.

looks like a little to much freeplay on the belt as well .

Do leak down test

interference engine. 99% chance you bent a handful of valves.

i have 7 bent, and 1 broken i can give you from my TDI if you are unsure of what to look for.

thanks for the suggestions guys.
Guess i’ll pull the head and go from there.

Thanks for the offer Mk4.
I saw this video on youtube on how to check for bent valves.
Pour some water through each of the intake and exhaust ports and look
for water leaking through the valve seats. Maybe i will give that a try.

use rubbing alcohol not water, it’s “thinner”.

cool, thanks boxer.

Buy my timing belt! Oem is best.

a gates racing belt > oem

Oem cheaper then gates…really doesn’t matter. I love people that buy greedy belts. Stupid fucks.

I just want this belt out of my garage :lol
