Verizon smartphones...

Due to a job change I need to purchase a smartphone. I still have a lot of time left on my contract before being able to upgrade with a deal, so i’m not going to spend that much on the phone. Plus, I’m recently engaged and don’t have a ton of money http://roclife.org/forums/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

Here are the phones i’m looking at:

AUDIOVOX XV6700 - Brand new $150
AUDIOVOX XV6700 - refurbished with Windows Mobile 5 - $99
Samsung i730 - Used in great condition $90

Which one would you choose? What other options would you suggest given the price range?

Activation cost for a data plan (though I think my company covers it because they are covering the data plan)

Thanks all

I liked my i730 a lot. It has an IR port so you can change the TV channels at a bar.

lol sold

buy one of the BB’s i’m selling.

I would except:
we don’t have a BES server here (though there are ways around that)
I don’t like the 8703’s
If I’m going to spend over 200 I’d prob pick up a Samsung i760…then again if I could spend that much I would have already. :frowning:

So at this point, what phone is a better deal assuming equal price?

Samsung i730 or the Audiovox xv6700

Have them download the full version for free of BPS and implement it. it comes with one free cal.

http://www.blackberry.com/select/professional/express.shtml

it will take up to 30 users and has almost all of the same functions of a full BES.

There is also a BES promo going on right now, free $4k piece of software or CALs

blah… go to sprint and buy my mogul

haha no! That won’t help me

i730 also has the fastest processor this side of an iPhone. (520mhz)

But then again my i760 at 400mhz feels as fast if not faster with wm6.1, but you still have bragging rights. They keyboard is small, but I liked it. It was kind of bulky, especially with the big battery. It should come with a standard battery and extended capacity battery, which you can charge simultaneously with the dock. That was kind of nice. I dunno. They’re very similar. Got fat fingers? Go with the 6700 for the bigger keyboard.

wait for blackberry storm… or wait until I get it and you can buy my moto q9m

Wait, so if someone wanted to go buy a BB and sync with Exchange email they have to have a BES server?

I have a Treo 650 I’ll sell you for $75.

storm

/thread
I was just advised yesterday that I will be getting one the day they come out.
<3

but If I were you i’d stick with the 730, I’ve had a few AV’s I can honestly say I’ve never hated a phone more than those.

Yeah…back to my original post about not spending a lot of money…

The Storm is my favorite choice, but not a reality especially for what they’re going for.

Jeff - Thanks for the offer, but I’m not a huge fan of the 650.

What is the cost to activate a phone?

nothing. Call CS or do it online.

yep, unless you use BB redirector, but that has its limits.

Again, you can get the BPS for free. A lot of time the carriers are running BES promos as well, like right now, buy/activate 20 new BB’s on VZW, get a free BES.
