Yeah I am sure it was. Once a keyway sheers you can usually force/bang the shift out of gear. Then you just have to drive it normally so it stays aligned

I drove it home and to the shop where the tranny is getting a make-over. I’m certain now it won’t be breaking. And now new and improved using 5th gear in the case that I need to WOT shift up on zeehighway. Hypothetically of course.
