Hard pass on pano roofs. Spider vents clog up and cause major leaks and rust. It’s a known issue on almost all VW/Audis

ugh… WHYYYYY. I really like those too. lol I really don’t want a daily without a sunroof. It really makes the vehicle feel bigger than it is.

My general opinion is if you park in a garage you’re probably fine with a sunroof. If you park in a driveway or on the street stay away because all the crap falling on your car will inevitably clog a drain and you’ll get leaks. Is this 100% foolproof, no, but a general opinion I’ve developed over lots of make/model specific forums over the years and personal ownership. Almost every thread I’ve seen about leaks came back to someone who parked their car outside the majority of the time, where as the people saying they never had issues were people who parked in a garage.

Every car I’ve owned I’ve parked outside and at least the last 2 or 3 cars have had sunroofs and no leaks. I currently have a 13 GTI with a sunroof that has been parked outside for nearly 3 years and no leaks. BUT… This is not a pano roof and looks to seal up pretty good as it’s the style that dips under the roof and not over the roof. I guess I’ll start looking into an Alltrack S and save some money. Just like the seats and pano roof in the SEL.

I’ve seen two RS6 locally in the past week and the German sled recently in FLA

I absolutely love the looks of the new RS6. So damn sexy.

Well… Traded in the 13 GTI 6spd to get this 19 VW Alltrack S. Went with the S so I didn’t have to deal with the Pano roof leak issues these seem to have on almost every single one of them. I was hoping for a manual but didn’t care to wait around and search all over to find one. 26k miles and about 5, almost 6yrs of warranty and about 60k miles of warranty.

Got tint put on last week. Not the best photo. I got my registration in the mail as well and am very happy to see it’s registered as a SUBN… so back windows legally can have tint. Obviously the fronts are illegal but we will see how that plays out when inspection is due in a year. 20% alll the way around 35% on the front doors.
Also picked up a MuddyBuddy rear cargo mat to preserve the back. All one mat that allows you to fold down the seats separately while still be protected.

Do these have air suspension?

No… but not sure exactly which suspension they have, if it’s the same in the Tiguan or not. I know a lot of people when wanting to lower it and get a little performance out of the suspension, they go with the Golf R springs. It’s got more of an SUV-ish suspension but still handles fairly well for what it is. Apparently a rear sway bar makes these handle a hell of a lot better, so we may be looking into that soon.

AT has 55mm hubs and is essentially a GTI shock with a taller spring. Since they are 55mm (base golf is 50mm) you can easily swap in GTI or R suspension. I recommend a RSB for sure, at the very least golf R, if not an H&R 24mm with some moog end links. Big difference. There’s a few low dollar mods that really changed the performance of mine. Fun car, super practical, congrats!

I’m looking into a JB4 so I can get a little more power from the car without the warranty being voided.
I’ll start checking out RSB to see what I can get my hands on for a fair price. May be a little as our son is about 3 weeks out from being born.

If it helps, I am 2 years into APR stage 1 91 octane with zero drama. I send out blackstone each oil change, and everything looks fine. With that being said, JB4 gets you ~70% there with better warranty piece of mind, so I get it.

I had some minor electrical issues a while back, all covered under warranty at my dealer, despite me being 100% open and honest with the tune. An APR authorized VW dealer might be a bit more lenient.

Yeah, with having my son due in weeks and being the cost of this car… I’m not going to mess with the warranty unless going JB4. I have literally just shy of 6 years and about 60,000 miles as it was a CPO. I had the original 49 months and like 45k miles or so and they added 1 yr and 12k miles on top of that. Just a nice piece of mind while trying to afford having a kid. haha My original plan was to get one and go APR but wasn’t expecting to get one with a warranty either.

Update on the family wagon.

Installed a H&R 25mm solid rear sway bar with Moog metal end links. Night and day difference in the handling already. Less lean and much quicker around a corner as it doesn’t feel like it want’s to peal understeer as much now. A lot more predictable handling.

Got an absolutely AMAZING deal on a Thule Force XT XXL cargo box. I wanted a L or XL but I couldn’t pass up getting the XXL as it was literally the deal of a lifetime after searching for months. I literally felt I was robbing the people.

I have a used JB4 with Bluetooth in the mail now. Crappy part is I have an appointment the 23rd for warranty work to get a coolant smell looked at. Probably a waterpump or thermostat needing to be replaced. The JB4 will go on after that is fixed.

Car is coming along and making it more fun to drive.

I’ll be doing the rain guards soon too. I miss them as I had them on my GTI. So much nicer to open windows while raining to just get a little fresh air flowing through.

Mind if I ask what you paid for the force? I am snagging a motion XT L in black… a little pricier, but super nice. On the low thule aeroblade bars itll look nice.

You’ll hate me but I posted on Craigslist for a wtb and someone weeks later contact me that they had it at a garage sale. I confirmed the price and was shocked and went the next morning. $100. Has a few blemishes and I may need to replace a lift arm ($35 shipped to my door which I bought regardless of needing or not) I feel like I robbed the people with this purchase.

I have the Yakima Whispbars right now and unfortunately they don’t work with this carrier. The clamps are touching the roof/resting on the roof. Adding weight and downforce from wind I’m sure it’s going to press more. I believe the Thule Aeroblade edge sits a little higher up than the Whispbars. Hoping at least since that’s where I’m trying to go now.

Any reason the L over the XL? The XL sits really nice on these and gives you just that little bit extra that you may want in the future.

Because I found a deal as well, but not as good as yours. I’ll post pics when done, the L will sit right.
