someone offer copies of this DVD format already
got my copy in the mail…watched it…
holy editing…they totally cut out anything techical I had to say about the builds
was neat to watch though…and it was not fixed in anyway…they did a good job for the time they had…and they red car won, as the judges voted for…
It may be true that Migs is a better driver aor it may not.
Clearly you can not make a statement like that based on what you saw on that show.
We were given only a few laps to work out the bugs on the cars before they were judged. I only got to drift that corner twice one beieg the wining one.
If you have never seen me dirft my own car then I don’t think that opinion is fair.
I did watch Migs drive his own car on that day and he spun I think every time he went into that corner and almost hit the hay bails once.
My vote goes to Chris (canadiandrifter240sx) as a better driver.

very true ^ chris, don’t doubt his talent.
I just heard some good things about the Jover day, going to download that video now.
I was robbed! hahahaha
That show experience was…interesting, to say the least
Three laps of driving a car for the first time after it was slapped together over a three day period without an alignment and non-existant rear brakes is definitely NOT enough to learn it for any decent drifting. I honestly would have done much better if I had been in a totally stock 240sx because our car was completely useless with the way it was setup. There was no balance whatsoever.
The biggest issue by far was the stupid big brake conversion that we did. I knew that the brake bias would be insane, but for some reason I chose to go against my better judgement and actually trust Bing because eeeeveryone told me he was the big Ontario “240 pro”. What a joke! I even remember asking him if the bias would be screwed up and all he said was “don’t worry about it”. Well holy crap that was a bad decision on my part. What do you think happens when you put massive rotors and calipers up front, along with steel braided lines in the front without upgrading anything in the rear? Not even the rear lines? You have a total loss of braking balance!
I’d go to setup the car for a slide and the slightest tap of the brakes did nothing but lock up the front wheels. Yeesh, the only thing could do to get the car sideways was a little quick steering and use of the gas pedal. I couldn’t even out the slides with the brakes at all
On top of Bing’s Brake Brainbuster, he wasted so much of our time with his goofy parts. He didn’t know how to install the rear control arms, he didn’t know how to install whatever those goofy spacers were that he got. We spent HOURS installing things, taking them out, then reinstalling them, and items we certainly did NOT need. The whole damn episode became a showcase of his crap no-name parts from China.
Needless to say, the other three of us on the team were pissed right off when it became obvious Bing had no idea what he was doing.
As for me driving my own car around the track…you’re darn straight I didn’t slide well at all. That’s what you get when you have a close to stock Corolla with 115hp trying to slide on sticky tires on the back. Whenever I drifted previously in my car it’s been with crap tires that can accomodate my extremely basic suspension setup. I had no idea we’d be asked to drive our cars around so I didn’t bother bringing my drifting wheels along. What was I to do though? If you get asked if you want to play with you car on a track and be filmed doing it, do you turn it down? Heeeeell no!
My accomplishments with my Corolla and my driving skill has been well documented so that doesn’t bother me too much…but I do feel like I really missed out. Building the car was a blast, and being a part of something like this was unreal, but damn it all, I never really got a chance to slide that car!
The producer’s decision to film ONE turn, was pretty crappy too. Both Chris and I were having a blast driving around the rest of the course and sliding around the other turns. It could have made for much more entertainment
Out of the two cars, I was VERY impressed with the other team’s car over ours. It was just incredible what they were able to accomplish with so little time…but that goes to show what happens when everyone on the team keeps busy and knows what to do!
Migs
I haven’t even seen the episode yet! Adam, I hope it’s in the mail!
Migs
thanks migs,
btw, i have all of these parts on my car and i installed all of them myself, many of which were not made in china.
the front brake bias of Z brakes on the front is only a 5% difference from stock.
stock is 70 / 30, with Z brakes it becomes 75 / 25, numbers in percentage form. hardly a “total loss of brake balance”. heed the guru here

Sorry buddy, I meant no offence towards your skills, quite the opposite, I was commenting on the fact that I’ve known Migs for a while and have seen his track time first hand!
Other than that, Migs’ Post sums everything else up pretty well!
Adam
damm, I may have to change my sig after all this bing bashing quotes have been brought to my attention…
J/k, just messin with you bing… the first 1/2 of the episode seemed good, but thats all I saw.
AHAHA! Bing doesn’t know what he’s doing…
that’s it.
grrr…
in mother russia, what i’m doing doesnt know me
its true bing didnt know much going into that show
but these past few months he has taught himself a fair bit
^^ WTF?
migs put the RUCA in backwards and i had to fix it for him…!!!
in fact, i did all the arms in the suspension, front and rear, the coilovers and the brake conversion. (i put one of the camber plates for the coilover in sideways but farmer caught it)
i also did the catback because migs was complaining about it since it was 3" and he wanted 2.5"… although i am sure the real source of the complaint was the fact that the show bought it from me.
fact of the matter is that at the time there was no one in Canada who had anything in stock for the cars except me.
dont be a fag jesse, i did all that work before that show on my own car and there is nothing in the past year that i have done that i hadnt done before anyways.
hell, i’ve personally done more to my car than you have to yours… and i put your coilovers in for you two weeks ago while you were trying to fix your buddies brakes…
gahh…
a 5% brake bias difference is HUGE
HOWEVER, it is still very easy to drift with that bitch and migs you always were a sore loser whats the deal with that?
just give the ebrake a quick tug on turn in to add some rear brake bias if you really cant get the car to slide
