Been lots of rumors about the manufacturers wanting to back out of a lot of the racing series even before all of this. I suspect this is just the beginning of them pulling out.

According to an article published in Radio Advertising Bureau, by 2012, GM said it plans to cut $600 million in ad and promotions, reducing its expenditures to $2.6 billion as part of a move to reduce annual structural costs to $23.2 billion by that year.
2.6 billion on advertising. Should fire the advertising agency. It’s simple. Consumers want your product or not. More advertising won’t make me go buy a new GM ,Ford or Chrysler

about nascar. i was tlaking to my boss the other day and we had a pretty serious conversation about this. he is a HUGE nascar fan. we came with the idea that the field will eventually be reduced down from 43 cars. i bet we see fields of 35 and the sponsorships go up for the cars. because the manufactures are giving less.
