Can anyone recommend a shop that could port a wastegate from a WRX STI?
i dont know anyone around here, but i just had mine ported in NC and the flow went from 70cfm at 20 inches of water to 168cfm
maybe domination or someone on here does that…
Pittsburgh Diesel Injection in Hamarville. If they can’t then they might know someone that can.
Domination Chassis?
I can do it? Anyone with a die grinder and some time can port something.
internal or external?
If you port the wastegate on an internal, more than likely you will have to increase the size of the puck also. There is a access port for internals you can grind off the welds. Then grind the other wastegate hole and change puck assembly.
:wtf:?
If you increase the size of the wastegate hole, you will need to increase the size of the clapper/puck/wastegate so it will cover the hole. Does that make better sense?
BTW, if you are having boost creep now, cheaper easier “possible fix” would be to increase the stiffness of the waste gate actuator spring. Adding additional spring or new actuator.
no one in their right mind opens up the wastegate hole itself with a die grinder…
Totally agreed on not using a die grinder! I was just stating that if you enlarge it enough that the wastegate puck will need enlarged also.
Probably cheaper wiring the wastegate shut, and installing an external on the manifold piping (if possible).
I wouldn’t recommend doing it
richard clark ported my turbonetics on the buick by hand and mic’ it damn near perfect .950
Now that is an awesome write up!
If you decide to. I can definataly handle it for you.
