Watch Crew: What to buy?

i’m not totally into Seamasters… but i feel.

I just want a speedy and that’s all i need for Omega… then it’s chasing down an IWC.

If any of you fuck faces try to stand between me and this watch i will stab you in the fucking face until you die from it.

My IWC:

Nice choice. You can’t go wrong with a PO.

Here’s a few more of my favorites.

is that actually your IWC?

if so, fuck you.

ps. Panerai is gay

Yes.

ps. False :stuck_out_tongue:

fawk watches there overrated…I just ask for the time.

ok ok… first off… i’m wickedly jealous.

secondly… what other watches do you have?

thirdly, can i have some?

I bet there are a few people on this forum that would take it up da butt for a Panerai.

I picked this up as a cheap wear it whenever kind of watch. Slickdeals is a bad habit for when your bored. Granted I have put more money into my gas tank than this set me back.

I got a rolex and some seikos also, but I guess the carbon fiber look sucked me in. I know it doesn’t really fit it this thread, but I really don’t like wearing nice watches all the time. I always seem to break something.

I might sell the FA Jones.

Rolex Milgauss, Ennebi Fondale, 5 PAMs, GO Sport Evo Chrono, Ulysse Nardin 1846 Marine Chronometer, couple Breitlings, and some beaters, might be forgetting some. :roflpicard:

You can buy some if you want.

yeah like the IWC?

i will only buy second hand watches for the foreseeable future, and i WOULD totally buy from you, but i don’t think we’re playing in the same league right now…

That IWC is like $6k - $10k used… i dont need any of that shit.

I’ll keep lowbally auctions for a Speedy triple cal.

What’s that? Is that the 3573.50? I kind of regret selling mine.

What?, I like the simplicity. Don’t get me wrong, I am still enthralled with Big Bangs and ROOS but I do like the DSSD for a more “basic” design.

Jared has a better selection of Omegas if you want check some out in person locally. I have been to reeds on maple to look at watches and was disappointed at the selection. I was in cabo not too long ago and they had a great jeweler down there where I was able to try on many different watches to find exactly what I wanted. You really cant do that around here, maybe in TO?

Buy on-line, save hundreds or thousands. ebay or watchuseek.

I wouldnt pay retail for one… just like a car they lose 40% of their value pretty quick and are no longer a decent investment. But good watches dont depreciate to $0.

I cant scoop a decent Speedy for under $1100 USD whether it be 5 years old or 25 years old… but they can be had in the $1500 range all day long depending on whisch kind… new they are $1800 - $3500 + tax… gay…

You can scoop up like new Sea Masters or Planet Oceans all day long on watchuseek for pretty ill prices.

Problem is if its not an authorized dealer = no factory warranty. Online retailers will give you their “store” warranty which means a whole lot of nothing. Ive read some horror stories since Ive been doing research. amazon.com for example killer prices but you better hope nothing goes wrong with it. When i walked into Reeds i was barely through the doors and i was already getting hit with oh these are 15% off retail before I even opened my mouth. Thats only 500 away from what ive seen online. Im sure that I could get darn close to online prices especially in this economy if i was buying something they had sitting there for a while. Problem is I dont want to pay tax.
I am just starting to get into watches and I want new for a first purchase. The co axial comes with a 3 year warranty from Omega and does not need to serviced for 10 years. Price is right around what i’d be willing to spend. I think the trick is going to be to buy from a reputable out of state AD where i can have the full warranty get a decent discount off retail and not pay tax. But i want to see it in person first. I guess im going to jared’s to see if they have it.

why would you need to warranty the watch?

i’ve had my Omega Cal 265. serviced locally… no biggie… i’m not sending it to the authorised dealer to get charged 5x more.

it’s not like a car where you trade it in when the warranty period end is approaching… you’re going to have it for decades anyways… spending an extra $1000 on a watch just to get a warranty doesn’t do it for me.

side note… im glad this thread is as active as it is. notice how few fggt’s posting in here?

No you missed my point man it was a 500 difference off the bat. I bet i could get within a couple hundred if i grimed them down. 200 bucks is worth 3 years of peace of mind for me. Plus if I ever decide to sell for whatever reason I have an original warranty card no numbers scratched out and all papers with guaranteed authenticity. Im sure that would help the resale of the item.

yeah that might be worth it then…

but the Speedy’s im looking at are out of production anyways, so warranty is not an issue.

Most issues can be resolved for a few hundred bucks anyways though.
