water temp gauge location

do you guys think that if i put my water temp qauge on the hoses going into the heater core, i will get an accurate reading??? Its one of those temp probes that need to be put into an npt thread hole. so i was gonna get a T and put it in the top… and since the coolant line off the back of an sr is larger than the hole going into the firewall Im gonna need an adapter anyhow to mate the two hoses together properly…

thanks…

There is no port on the block that will accept the NPT probes.

You will need to get something that you place in between the upper rad
hose (to make life easier).

This is what you need:

that looks like a pretty good idea… but on closer inspection on the water temp gauge, the fitting is not npt… its some sort of compression… and its not tapered like the bspt… so im thinking i might just cut off the fitting, and isntall in in the lower rad hose… hopefully it wont leak with the wire coming out between the hose and the coolant neck on the block…
