putting an aftermarket temp gauge in

So my temp gauge went a while back, the needle just dosnt move at all, and i dont want to replace the sensor because if all goes well the engine is coming out soon. So i went to good old crappy tire and bought one of there 9 dollar temp gauges. My question is, how am i going to get that thing in there. If i remember correctly the temp sensor is on the intake manifold next to the rad hose to the left of the red sensor… no?

but it looks very small and the sensor that came with the gauge seems bigger, now i havent had a chance to pull out the orig sensor but if it just wont fit then i dont want to bother,

this is the gauge http://images.canadiantire.ca/media/images/Automotive/Performance/Gauges/0340120_450_CC_18909.jpg you cant see the sensor

ill get a picture of the new sensor when i get a second.

so if anyone knows how to make this fit or if i should just return it (with out the justification of it being a cheep ctc gauge)

if u do know how to put it in could you give me some instructions.

thanks

sean

You need a temperature probe that gets the temperature from the coolant.

Easiest is to get an adapter and stick your probe in it, and then put the
adapter in between the upper rad hose.

I have an elect. water temp gauge and here are the pictures of how I
hooked it up.
