so SON, first off merry belated christmas
well i’ve been having a problem with my water temp lately
its been overheating alot. and its weird because its random.
for example:
i always do my routine, let the car warm up for about 5 mins
i take a drive for say 10 minutes and its fine.
or on a random day or even same day i take the car out for another 10 minute drive and again warming the car for about 5 mins and it my water temp exceeds 120.
at first i thought it was the coolant in my Greddy rad but i replaced and still im getting these random results.
any ideas?
-ps happy holidays
take out your thermostat and test it… sounds like it’s sticking.
is this still a possibility if the water is acctually boiling hot?
for example the excess coolant in the tank was steaming once
Yea my thermostat got stuck a few times and it would over heat, but once i slam the hood it goes away. Anyways, I noticed you said you changed the rad. So if its not the thermostat, then there might be some air in the coolant system. good luck.
i never changed the rad, just the coolant
the greddy was install awhile ago
but i will take a look at the thermostat and for air in the system
thanks alot guys!
still try bleeding the coolant.
If the stat is ok, and there are no air pockets in the system, go to a shop and do a leakdown test. I might even do that before you go changing the stat…
I went through months of changing stuff and checking things cause it was overheating completely randomly. It ended up being a blown head gasket between cyl. #2 and one of the coolant passages.
I could litteraly beat the snot out of the car one day and it’s fine, then the next I’ve got the cruise on while on the highway and she would start bubbling over.
Leakdown test is the key here.
Good luck.

i had an exact over heating problem as this, but it turned out that my fan was broken. i had it replaced and everything worked perfectly again.
I’d say try a leakdown, then a coolant flush and an OEM thermostat.
I’ve had the same thing and it was a sticking theromostat - don’t catch it in time and it WILL be your head gasket.
Good luck.
