I’m just kidding. I have an 18 year old niece that I am very protective about so I feel your pain.
On to the pool question - I cleaned pools for a summer job for a couple of years. If you stay on top of it it’s not bad. Keep up with the chemical levels and run the filter a lot (a timer is great) and it’s easy. Don’t keep up with it and it becomes a HUGE pain. I’ve worked on pools you could not see three inches in to. I’ve also fallen in to pools like that on more than one occasion. Plan for a heater now as well. With the weather we have here it’s a real nice addition. I know it sounds crazy when it’s 91 out, but one of my pals has an unheated one and they don’t get that much use out of it. I like gas the best, electrics not bad, even a ghetto solar heater is worth it for the $30 in materials (some black hose, some glass/plexiglass, wood and some tin).
Sand filters do ok, but a DE one is way better. When I was doing it cartridge filters were starting to become big, don’t know if they ever caught on but they were in between those two, imo.
