Watch and discuss…
that is interesting for sure
soooooo whos actually going to mail a teabag to their legislature and how exactly is that going to accomplish anything?
It’s a sign to them. As was the tea party.
I am just about 50/50 on what he has to say. I agree with the political limits, but I strongly disagree with mandatory service. I however strongly agree with his comment on 9/11. My brother and myself had a discussion based on how much people were Americans for 2 weeks after 9/11 and then immediately went back to not giving a shit.
I have given much thought to starting up a NYrevolts, or NYteaparty website, but the time is so limited on my end, and I bet that I am going to have a large construction project soon, so meh… maybe I am one of the lazy Americans who stands up for nothing myself.
Start up a successful site that gets picked up by media = success
Think of the exposure you would get and possible other gigs for web design in addition to helping your country ![]()
well i understand that, but how is that going to change anything? The people who are in these positions obviously dont give a shit about whats going on.
This point came clear to me from the recent interviews of when Governor Patterson was in town and offered to take a 10% pay cut.
When his fellow employees were interviewed, they all said they would rather not, but its ok for honest, hard working citizens to be expected to pick up the tab on politicians who mishandled our money to begin with.
True, but when people complain about the people in power, the power gets nervous and actually does what the people want. Look, the government is going to be getting most of the AIG money back because we bitched. Say nothing, and nothing gets done.
Politicians should not have a vote in giving themselves raises, and should suffer at a time of economic downturn that we are going through now also.
Thats my thoughst, almost. I just want the change and the exposure for the people to speak their minds. Youtube and things like this get exposure, but they are not organized. I really am not in it for the money, but watching the degradation of my country and the future for my children is pretty scary. I grew up as a child of a baby boomer and I was a kid that never wanted for anything. I want my children to have the same luxury, but day by day it seems as though that concept falls farther away.
I want a site that brings the people to a common ground and can affect the way our gov’t. attains their office. I do not want to use it as a profit center, and I REALLY do not want the media on my ass. Maybe that is my hold back, as I can throw a site on the web in days, but to make it successful takes a commitment, and with success comes attention to me that I honestly try to shy away from.
I’m pretty much on the same page as you. I only suggested the exposure part as that could be part of an incentive since I know my investments are dwindling. And you got to pay for your time somehow.
Make it, keep yourself anonymous, and get content on there that gets people to take notice, get involved, or just get pissed at the government and actually do something about it.
But it’s not just one person as you said. It does take a committment.
i agree with him and if there ever is a march i will be in it. guaren-fuckin-teed (let a little redneck show lol)
There is one of those tea parties planned in buffalo in a few weeks. I showed up to some of these things over the summer, but unfortunately the crazies tend to take them over. No more for me.
edit: watched the video and it is fantastic. Wish it would go viral.
Im pretty sure this a repost.
no one here cares
:picard: That whole video is arguing based on an underlying assumption that our representatives got there magically, not by popular vote.
Unfortunately for those who disagree, the policies we see taking shape are the result of the collective choice of American citizens. We voted no to boom and bust. We voted no to fear based aggression. Suck it up and get more people on your side for the next election, don’t try pull the wool over our eyes about how it all came to be.
But I’m all for people taking action against what they feel is wrong, so if anyone is inspired by this to actually take action to strengthen the republican party then rock on and let me know how I can help. (The GOP’s all sorts of fucked right now and I don’t like the idea of either party being significantly stronger than the other.)
I think you are WAY over simplifying the process. The system is so archaic and complex that that most people dont know much about who gets into many offices. There is no CLEAR presentation of issues and people involved. Americans are busy with getting by and do not have the LARGE amounts of time necessary to jump through hoops to research who is up for election and who they are and what they stand for.
Not only that but the system itself really sucks. Its a “who you know” club and not whats the best you can do for the people.
Its based on bullshit and monetary gain.
I see the republicans are a bunch of decrepit retards stuck in their ways.
They are more concerned about political posturing and their careers / political power rather then doing whats best for the country.
There should be NO parties. There should be only candidates… on an even playing field. Parties create a club that distorts “whats best” in favor of “majority opinion” which has proven to be wrong on most occasions
Word. To both posts. I wish it were as simple as the people consciously chose based on policy, not a bunch of uninformed morons picking who they like to listen to the most.
As for the two party thing, it tends to work as it creates a tug-of-war that keeps the country centered, but it’s a shame that we need to pick one side or the other.
