Wearing seatbelts in the back seat?

Do you do it? Seems like quite a few people I’ve met don’t, their only reasoning being that it’s no required by law.

ehhh just no need to…or something like that

people always do when i drive. i do not know why lol

No.
back seats are usually cramped for me, i like to stretch out

If you’re riding in my car you do because I don’t need to get killed by your unbelted ass slamming me into the dash.

And yeah, I wear them even if riding in the back. Being partially ejected from a car and having it roll over on me is not real high on my list of cool ways to die.

Plus I’m scared of irony. Far too many times I’ve looked at the wreckage of a fatality and said, “If that dumb fuck had been belted he’d have lived”.

Yes. See post #6.

Car-sickness owns me, I don’t do backseats.

Let me tell you all a story, and i dont mean to sound like a preacher…

While working at RMA, we got a call for a motor vehicle crash: car vs utility pole. heres what the condition of the patients were:
Driver: wearing a seatbelt, airbag went off, hit the windshield anyway because it was a Ford Escort and he was like 6’ 5" was conscious and totally with it had some cuts on his head and complaining of chest pain…ehhh not such a big deal really just c-collared/backboarded him and sent him off with another crew.
Front Seat Passenger: Wearing a seatbelt, airbag went off, in theory they shouldnt have been in too bad of shape. there was a nice spider crack in the windshield from their head (still had some blood and hair stuck in it…such a dead give away lol), they were limp, neck at a very “not normal” angle, had severe injuries to their face and head, and had some blood and clear fluid coming out of their nose and ears (NOT GOOD!). Surprisingly, they were still breathing (quite well actually). another crew transported them to ECMC’s Trauma Center, not sure how they made out, but prob not so well
Backseat Passenger: NOT WEARING A SEATBELT! had some injuries to the face, complaining of neck and back pain, thats about it. we took them to ECMC they were fine.

Now, in the process of all this, i noticed that the front passenger seat of the car was broken off the tracks by some external force. I think you can figure out what happened, and if not, just keep not wearing your seatbelt in the back if you care the slightest bit about the person driving.

shitty driver = belt, crazy driver = belt, normal driver I trust = probably not.

Poll is fucked up I can choose each option…

DOT.

People don’t understand the forces involved when you take a 200 lb person traveling 35-75+mph and hurl them forward into the back of a seat. It’s like hitting it with a wrecking ball.

either you wear your seatbelt in my car or you walk

.

If you hit something when I’m in your back seat, you deserve to get me slamming into you. The only way that’s happening is if you do the hitting, or there’s a head on. Getting hit would likely send me in another direction. If it’s a big SUV or something where I can stretch out, I’ll buckle up if I can do so comfortably. Otherwise, I’ll take my chances being able to breathe back there.

EDIT: I sit behind the driver, unless I don’t like the passenger.

Nonsense it’s fine, what if you want cake?

You must be gigantic, because I stretch out just fine with the seatbelt on in the back…

so when the driver of the car you’re in T-Bones a car that ran a red light, they deserve to get crushed by you?

meh 5’10 215 but I had my knee reconstructed last summer and I can’t seem to get comfortable sitting straight in one since, it cramps up. Only exceptions I can think of are my parents’ avalanche and lincoln town car…

Seat belt for me, all the time, doesn’t matter. Seems like a no brainer.

Just because you trust the driver doesn’t mean some other idiot can’t hit them.
