Webmail Client and More!!

Here at work, we have some domains hosted. The host has webmail built in, but it sucks (it’s called Open Webmail). Is there some other webmail client we can (easily) install on the host?

Also, we need FTP access for some customers and associates. I don’t want them to have to install an FTP client, or even have to learn how to do it in Internet Explorer. I would like some kind of web setup where they log in and they are assigned permissions to specific folders and allowed certain levels of activities (able to upload, download, delete their own files, but not delete files placed by other users).

Do such things exist??

tell them to shut up and use pine

squirrelmail is fairly reliable and widely used

horde mail is good too, more options than squirrelmail

Can these be easily added to our hosting? Is it just a matter of uploading to a folder via FTP, and setting up some configuration files?

yeah the are so easy to use, just ftp the files up and you are set

If you’re paying for hosting, get a new host as no one uses openwebmail. If you do your own hosting internally, fire the IT guy as he should know how to do things.

We host through www.WebsiteSource.com, they’re not bad. Usually I couldn’t care less about Web access to email, but we have people working in a satellite office, so they need some way to use their email.

Not to self promote but you need to change hosts. Your host is still using old technology and there are much better options out there.

Indeed.

Your host sucks…

:word:

no good mang

We paid for 2 years, beginning last November. We pay something like $40 / month for a virtual private server.

We may be looking to replace them, not due to these issues, but because now I’m hearing that we’ve been having problems since the beginning.

Apparently OLD emails from MONTHS ago are being sent now, and have been messed up all along. Weird.

Haner, email me at thomasm@mwtusa.com and let me know what we can arrange. I probably should have contacted you from the beginning.
