Weld In Full length Subframe Connectors

Mike I put MM full length connectors on my car. I got the bare steel ones and painted them before installing them. Before I installed them I removed the paint at the welding points. There would be issues with a side exit exhaust if you ran MM connectors, how do spintechs differ to allow your side exit to clear?

Your probably going to see rust creep up somewhere on the actual connectors or on the frame rails after you install them. I wouldnt worry about it too much since you dont drive the car through the winter or anything like that. Just make sure you put on a few coats of paint on the rails and the connectors after everything is welded so you dont have any bare metal showing. You could also silicone all the gaps to keep water out.

The install is a big job, the grinding is the worst part. The frame rails are coated pretty well in most places so it can take awhile to get to bare metal. I did mine on jackstands and it sucked bad. I would imagine a shop would charge a hefty amount to install them since it is a labor intensive job.

I had BBK full lengths welded on my car last summer, wow what a difference, most of the squeaks and rattles are gone, the car no longer flexs pulling into businesses and such. seems like it lets the suspension do its job better now that the body is not flexing.

You should also get your torque boxes welded up in the rear of your car, they are only held in with a couple spot welds from the factory and with the power you have you could easily damage one or rip on out. I got mine welded up the same time as my SFC and one of mine already had slighty damage but it was caught in time.

As far as rust, just make sure you prime and paint over any areas that are welded or where you have to remove paint. I drive my car in the rain all summer and I have no problems with any rust on my welds or SFC

they are stepped so they have clearance for the exhaust. and i would obviously do all the prep work and grinding prior to taking it somewhere to get welded

im trying to stay away from welding tons of stuff on my car so the lesser the amount the better.

They also make “battle boxes” which are bolt in reinforcements for the torque boxes if you want to do less welding. I guess you can just keep tabs on them and make sure you don’t hurt them, but I wouldn’t want to see you rip a hole in your floor.

Wow those are really extreme. Ive never seen full length bars like that before. Id rather install a full cage which you’ll eventually have to do anyways.

why would i do a cage? im not going that far with the car, i would buy a regular old gt if i was gonna go that nuts on a car. why hack up this one:gotme:

agreed, besides, a cage and subframe connectors are not mutally exclusive nor do they do quite the same kind of stiffening

How much weight did it add?

Did you get this done?
