It’s not an M package so I doubt it has a torsen. An LSD is definitely on the list after wheels and coilovers.
What did you have?

In 95’ R & M-packages came with a Torsen, either way it’s a good mod that can be had on the cheap.
Suspension wise Goodwin or 949 or one of them has an awesome AST setup - that’s the one you want.
Miatas are so awesome. Stoked you have one. Reminds me of my old black 95 Miata I used to have. There’s nothing like top down cruising in the summer no matter how slow the car is.
The AST offering from 949 was VERY nice, but I wouldn’t do it again. I paid about 800 less for the coilovers than I did for the whole car, and the buyers remorse sets in pretty quick once you realize what you’ve done. If you can find a great deal on them used, go for it (keep in mind that 99% of the used market will have track spring rates that will suck on the street). Otherwise, I would just stick with one of the cheap offerings. The biggest advantage of the AST setup is its track performance, and it doesn’t sound like there’s going to be much track driving for this car–It just doesn’t make sense.
Whatever you do, dont buy anything new. The used market is so cheap for these cars and people part them out on a daily basis.
I had FM coilovers on my old NB, I’ll be buying them again for this NB. The NA use the NB top hat/bump stop but other than that, are a great coilover.
Definitely mostly street use. 375/250 spring rates would probably be great. I just want good dampening which is one reason I wouldn’t mind a GC coilover on Konis or Bilsteins to get a decent shock. I don’t need an AMAZING shock but I don’t want an underdampened set up on a cheap shock, which is what a lot of cheap coilovers are. Interested in what will give me the most suspension travel when sitting pretty low.
I had Illuminas with GC coilovers and they don’t go very low. It eliminated most of the wheel gap but wasn’t that low. But my standards of lowness might be different from your standard of lowness. With the amount of quality coilovers out there now you can get good ride quality for a good price.
Yeah, I don’t need slammed but I don’t want wheel gap. I’ve actually seen FM springs on Konis go pretty low with NB top hats, especially considering the Konis have multiple perch points to use. I don’t want to lose all suspension travel and performance. Those Tecnas look like a great street coilover. I don’t need a track set up, I do want comfort. I just want good damping for the street. Leaning towards the Tecnas unless someone has another suggestion to look at. Thanks for the input guys. I’m stoked for this car. I couldn’t pass it up for the price.
Definitely go with NB top hats for the extra travel. Roll bar, decent suspension and wheels can be done for under $1500. Cant beat that.
Exactly what I was thinking.
