…and came back with it’s long lost Japanese cousin
Background:
Since selling the Ninja a few weeks back, I’ve been in the market for some sort of two wheel contraption. I started off with the intention to buy a dedicated track bike and stay off the streets, my ideal bike would’ve been an SV650 or SV1000. But alas, as things progressed in the search I realized that I’d rather not spend much on a bike and instead pay off the very little debt I had (~$1600) and then work with the money I had left over.
That’s where I started my search for an older vintage bike. I’ve always loved the look and sound of these machines, and especially the cafe styling. So long story short, after many nights of searching and frustration (my god, the frustration) of looking at total pieces of shit, I finally found this gem out in Varysburg, NY.
I’d like to introduce to you…my “new” 1981 Suzuki GS750L

She’s got 23,000 original miles, runs PERFECT, barely a sign of rust or corrosion, and surprisingly handles VERY well.
I must say I am very happy with my purchase.
My short term plans for the bike are to strip the bike down to the frame, powder coat the living shit out of everything that can be, new paint for the tank and side plastics, and new seat cover. I want this thing to look like showroom quality by spring. Any of you that know me and my vehicles can attest to the fact that I can’t and won’t deal with a vehicle with any imperfections, no matter how small.
