What $200,000 in Student Debt Looks Like

She partied, studied abroad, and lived for years with no job, all while putting it all on a student loaned and didn’t think that she would have to work twice as hard for twice as long to pay back all those years of doing nothing?

Shes just a noter dumb bitch with a worthless education. I went to school, worked my ass off while doing it and walked away with a very respected degree in a field that pays a decent wage, and no student loans at all. It can be done, she just took the party route.

I paid for school while going to school. Worked 30-50 hour weeks depending on my classes and school work load. No debt when I graduated and also owned a Corvette.

School is for fools if you’re a dumb ass. Her parents should have guided her better. Just because you pay a lot for school doesn’t mean you will be successful.

Step one:
Check to see if you can actually make money in the field of work your degree is in. If not switch.

Step two:
Shop schools, see what the best deal for you would be.

Step three:
Talk to your professors and network.

Step four:
Graduate with at least a little work experience. Do a summer internship or two.

Step five:
Get killer job. Now is the real party time.

It really was sociology? She went to a private school on student loans to get a degree that would qualify her to work at a daycare for $8/hour? Wow. Let’s see. $8/hour, give 25% to taxes, so $6/hour, 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year (she obviously can’t be expected to work all year long), at 6.8% interest, SHE WILL NEVER PAY OFF THIS LOAN. LOL under that scenario she doesn’t make enough to pay the interest on this loan, much less touch the principle.

Buying now. Time to profit on peoples misery.

Nope. That changed in like 2003 ish right when I went to school when people were taking on tons of debt to go through school then filing bankrupcy, living at home for 5 years and saving money and then they were back to normal.

Aren’t the loans setup to be paid in 10 years? I mean she’ll have to pay $1600 a month, but it can be done.

Hers are 30 year loans…

The max allowable term depends on the size of the loan. And the point of my post is that at the minimum wage job she is now qualified for it actually can’t be paid off.

LMAO… I can see it now. “I just bought a new TV on a high interest credit card…Need donations”

Yikes. Mine are 10 and I extended the one to 20 to lower the payments.

True, sociology was a bad idea. At least my shitty degree/school choice was for a field that is expanding and won’t be going away anytime soon.

There’s so much wrong about this situation, it’s hard to know where to even begin…

To be fair though, there are much worse things she could have done, that we would have had to pay for. Student loan debt is hers alone unless she can get people to pony up for her. At least she didn’t get knocked up 7 times on our dime

No wonder she’s expecting a handout. Fuck her she gets nothing.

Can you guys help me out? I am stuck in debt and need some support!

LOL already getting flamed on reddit. Maybe I shouldn’t have put “Gambling” as a living expense? Haha

I’m surprised nobody has sued a school yet. “I paid for my education expecting a great job and I don’t have a job so I don’t want to pay for my education.”

Shit dude that looks pretty nice. that was quick

I was contemplating suing ITT but that is kind of another story.

Up $0.69 already! Lol.

I love how schools sell themselves.
“Buff state is the same as UB except the coursework is not calculus based”… LOL
Yea, if you are going into teaching there are easier math courses you can take…
I’m just thankful that not everyone here gives me shit for my “community high school degree”

You’re welcome

I’m thinking that these school protests are going to get more and more widespread. Tuition rates have gone up a ridiculous amount just in the last few years and if they continue it will only get worse.

not only is tuitin stupid, but housing in college towns is usually 2x what it should be, which leads to more loans for living expenses etc, i worked 30 hours a week and still needed help sometimes

college is great and all but unless you pick the “right” career at the “right” time you will be trying like hell just to find an entry level job that barely pays more than wal-mart

same here, except replace corvette with two neons, 1985 coleman camper, and two three wheelers

Professor Chopra, MAE 484, was just telling us a few weeks ago a girl didnt sue but wrote a letter to the dean of the school where she went asking for a refund because her degree got her nowhere, she agreed to exchange her degree for her money LOLOL
