What $200,000 in Student Debt Looks Like

I know it isn’t a real school, but there are a couple large class action lawsuits against University of Phoenix and the other online specific ones.

For those who think it’s ignorant to have 200k in debt. Please find me a law school that I wouldn’t have paid at least 40k a year?

You missed the article: She went to a 50K a year school for undergrad in a non demanded major. Law school has a lot higher return than a sociology major.

Yes but one or two posted in here that even with an MBA or PhD 200k was stupid and irresponsible

im glad i pay for school as i go. wont owe a dime when i walk out of there. granted itll take me a while as im part time. what sucks is school went up 300 bucks for me for one class compared to the last couple years. 1200 bucks for one class? makes me wonder what the hell is the point i already have a fulltime job in my field. by the time i get the 4year ill already be making what i would have with the degree. granted i can then pay more money and take more tests and wait 8 years so i can get my prof. engineering license so i can get another 10k a year.

and i know alot of people consider 2 year schools as a joke, but im happy with my cadd degree from nccc. theyre the best school anywhere for cad drafting & design. and its atleast a 1/3 the price of buff state.

i still dont get why people go to big 4year schools right from the start. so much money wasted. if its in the suny system, the credits are all worth the same at every other school. and you start fresh with your gpa when you transfer. just make sure you have an AA or AS instead of an AAS like me so you dont get stuck needing all kinds of extra bulshit requirements.

I don’t understand how people rack up so much. This is my 8th year (8 years of actually attending school since 2001) at RIT, I am almost finished with my Ph.D., and I have 43k in loans. To go for less time, and owe more, you would have to be REALLY bad at getting scholarships, or something!

That’s kinda what I wanted to prove. I had a lot of friends that went to 4 year schools, took all the advanced classes in HS, this that and the other thing, and are either still in school or working minimum wage jobs. I didn’t take advanced coarses (other than calculus), I didn’t take my SATs, and I didn’t go to a 4 year school. I now make pretty decent money doing what I like doing, with good benefits and vacation time. Is it a road everyone should take…Nope.

It’s not so much at a SUNY cause you’ll be stuck in giant freshman classes anyway but some people actually go to college to learn. If so they want to be doing it from accredited profs in their field, and not risk their community college profs being hacks off the street that got fired from the public sector, or grad students that need cash, or substitute HS teachers. Also, gives you the chance to have the full college experience, and build relationships with teachers and network- if I didn’t have a full ride at Canisius it would have cost me an arm and a leg but by the time I was a junior they had already gotten me two solid internships through the career center and I had professors pulling strings with area employers for me.

i def understand what youre saying, but what i mean is someone can get their basic required classes out of the way at a 2year, like their basic writing classes, histories, arts, humanities, etc. coming in as a transfer student at a 4year like buff state, instead of needing 2 classes or 6 credits in all of these, if you have an AA or AS degree you only need 3 credits or 1 class of each of those requirements. it counts as the same classes and for the most part are classes that arent major specific. when i transfered i only had an AAS because my cadd degree is all technical classes, i didnt have all of those BS classes that dont mean squat in regards to what youre using the degree for. my degree is still a 2 year, but i didnt meet all those requirements. however i do already have some of the major specific classes i needed, and all the profs that were in the cadd program at nccc were fulltime professors, some of them that have been there a good 40 years. personally i think the quality of education i got at nccc is far superior from what ive had at buff state too, so thats another plus of going to a smaller school.

oh and so far alot of my profs at buff state have been adjucts or hs teachers that work part time at buff state. some of em are really good tho. my physics 2 class i had a hs teacher, but the class was excellent.

This sentence is the exact reason why you need a better education…

I guess I was one of the people who decided that I wasn’t going to college and I was going to let my street smarts take me to a successful career.

With the way things are going lately, a college degree isn’t going to mean jack shit in the future. I feel bad for the people who go to school and rack up all these bills and after they graduate, their degree means nothing.

“their degree means nothing”

I’m glad you think that…

HAHAHAHAHA

LOL I guess what I meant was, the degree they have is not needed for the job they have.

I on the other hand an up to $1.35 for repayment of my student loans and credit cards

I only got $1600 left on mine

Feces Management? :stuck_out_tongue:

yes joe, at the Angel Soft school of Fecal Management.

i dont give a shit about spelling or grammar unless it is for something important such as a paper for school or work related. not worth the effort to make sure everything is perfect or to press the shift key every 5 seconds. so piss off mr im better then everyone. lol

Nice. I need to take a night class there to make sure I only need to shit when I am on the clock at work.
