because it was turned into a movie it doesnt get the type of serious recognition it diserves, but its am amazing book. Better ending than the movie too.
Best thing i read i think would be the Hitch hikers guide trilogy in 5 parts, which i read back in 2004. I’ve got a bunch of books i need to finish (Harry potter’s, Salmon of doubt) and a bunch to start, haven’t decided on anything yet.
I read a little bit of everything from fiction, non-fiction, business related to pop culture related.
Actually, the last 2 books I read were Howard Stern’s “Miss America” and Chuck Zito’s “Street Justice”.
For those that don’t know Chuck, he was the president of the NY Chapter of the Hell’s Angel for long time, he beat the crap out of Van Damme and is an all around tough dude. This book in an autobiography and I would recomend it to anyone looking for an exciting, interesting but light read.
(On an off I’m also reading a book called “The Tipping Point” all about marketing and consumer behaviour.)
My next book will either be the Lance Armstrong story or “Star” by Pam Anderson (got them both for XMas).
i just finished that a week ago, it was ok but not great. i had to put it down for a week or so then pick it back up.
just finished “confessions of an economic hitman” by John Perkins. it was decent but not great.
NO LOGO - naomi klein
this book was long and not all of it was great but i highly, highly recommend reading two of the sections titled: NO JOBS and NO CHOICE
i agree to some extent the reviews of the book where people say ms. klein gets a bit preachy but overall i found it well supported and extremely informative. particularly of what is going on overseas where all of our goods are produced. She has been there and gave great accounts of it that have been supported by other documentaries i have and books i have read.
Lee Iaccoca’s biography, i’ve read this twice now.
best book i have read so far: The Rebel Sell
friggin fabulous. i learned a ton about so many different phenomenon that occur right around us everyday. some of which i admittedly fall victim to myself. it was wicked wicked wicked, i will be buying it and reading it again.
i have though about picking up fight club, my brother has it and had the same things to say about it as i have heard from everyone else… good stuff
LOTR X3, Foundation Trilogy by Asimov, Ender’s Shadow (I intended to also read Ender’s game, but… shit happens, I’m a lazy man) aand… Joy Luck club. That’s when I learned that Bing is actually a perfectly normal chinese name  Before that I always thought “my my, that’s an interesting name he has there…”
I have read almost everything The Black Library has published within the last 5 years, which makes for something like 38 books. http://www.blacklibrary.com/index.html
As well I have read almost all of Asimov’s work, aside from some short stories.
Arthur C Clark’s 2001 2010 2061 and 3001.
Right now I’m about 2 books into the “DUNE” series which is 13 books long, although a great deal of the more recently released books are prequils to the original story, but are none the less important.
thats all I can think of at the moment.
well “Blink” “the Davinchi Code” that kind of junk… lol
Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy series - Douglas adams
Dirk Pitt series - Clive cussler
Endersgame + other endersverse series - Orson Scott Card
Potter series - JK Rowling
Narnia series - CS Lewis
Lotr - Tolkin
War of the worlds - HG Wells
1984 - George Orwell
DaVinci Code - Dan Brown
Complete Sherlock Holmes Series - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
I don’t like reading non-fiction. If I want to hear a story or something I’ll
ask my mommy or watch a video. So the rest are some books I read over
the course of 2005 that were good/bad.
Books I enjoyed / would reccommend:
Napoleon Hill:
Think and Grow Rich (currently re-reading)
Master Key to Riches
Robert Kiyosaki:
Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach their Kids that the Poor and Middle Class Do Not
Rich Dad Poor Dad: Cashflow Quadrant
Rich Dad Poor Dad: Guide to Investing
Rich Dad Poor Dad: Retire Young Retire Rich
Rich Dad Poor Dad: Prophecy
Rich Dad Poor Dad: Who Took My Money
… basically all of them teach good financial principles
Books I read that Suck:
The Millionaire Next Door - teaches you to be a penny pinching cheap ass in order to be rich… whats the point?
I don’t time or patience to read books, even in school all my book reports were made up from movies I had seen and I renamed and made up the name of the writer LOL…still got good marks too lol.
If there is one book I highly suggest is the Holly Bible. If your Orthodox read the Orthodox version if your Catholic read the Catholic version, no matter what type of Christian you are you should read your religions Holly Bible.
Even if your not Christian, if your Islamic then you should read the Quran no matter what religion you are, I think it is very important that you are aware of the teachings of your religion. I think it is very important that people follow a path in life and I don’t think any good religion had done anyone any harm most religions teach about peace, love and faith, minus those cults etc. but those are not considered religions anyway.
Another good book to read is the other Holy Bible: The Chiltons Nissan 240sx repair manual it also makes life a little easier and shows you the right ways to do things in life that make life more peaceful and it shows you ways to avoid aggravation by doing things the right way in life. It also answers many of your unanswered questions in your time of need when all is lost and you have no one to turn to. It shows you ways to find that power and will in your self to help you fix even the hardest tasks in life.
Yeah I think those 2 books can help out many people.
