What can I use to safely clean this??

its a Given that my car is white…well im picky on the outside as well as under the hood. What Can I use to clean under the hood of my car without worrying about shorting something out/getting something wet etc.

for instance, their is still some grease prints from when my motor went in, and it bothers the shit out of me on my white engine bay…I have it pretty damn clean, alot cleaner then most cars you see but In my eyes its still not good enough…

Can I use simple green in a spray bottle, spray it…let it soak and then run some soapy water over it??..like I said, I dont want to harm anything electrical.

Simple Green, rags, and time. Some people just spray the shit down, let it soak and rinse but it’s not worth the risk IMO.

Also, for as much plastic as we have under the hood I like those Armor All cleaning/protectant wipes. Cheap@Walmart

Seriously anythign your worried about shorting out cover up with plastic bags… engine degreaser/Simple green, let that shit soak and spray it down, ive done it multiple times on all my cars and not a problem

sooo you mean to cover every single coil pack/plug wire and all the electrical boxes and shit? That might take a while…

the plugs should all be weather packs. just use some good terry cloth, and simple green and wipe away

Electronics under the hood are made to be able to get wet. Every connector under the hood comes sealed from the factory. I have pressure washed engine bays in the past with no issues. Make sure you let everything dry before firing the car up just to be safe.

Come to think of it… you can get any electronics you want wet as long as they are dry before you send any current through them.

Spray it with engine degreaser, rag the hard spots, then spray with the hose. 10 minutes tops.

good stuff. i put plastic bags on the battery, alternator and all electric stuff i can cover and use those. works quite nice

Well generaly I put a bag over the Distributor,Battery, Ignition Coil and anything else that looks like it could be exposed to water easily, like maybe a disonnected plug or something…

but like LSK said… as long as you let everything try your golden

isnt there electric spray that dries off the connections anyways?

WD-40…displaces water. CRC makes an electrical component cleaner that evaporates, also a special MAS element cleaner as well. Gray label cans, not the typical red/white label they carry.

Just hose the thing with a mist and don’t spray directly at major electrical components with the 2500+psi pressure wash and it’ll be fine. Shit’s meant to get wet…

I always use purple power. I think it works better than the green stuff. Put it in a spray bottle, and don’t forget to mix it 50/50 with water and don’t let it sit for to long like 10min topps.

u dont :lol

Dude seriously you can spray down your whole engine with a pressure washer and you have nothing to worry about. I’ve done it so many time I cant count. The only thing you dont want to get wet is the Air Filter.

my air filter is under the lid anyways…its 100% sealed.

im just gonna use simple green that wash it literally with running water

I go to hoffmans, pop my hood with the car running and blast the shit out of everything. Just stay away from the alternator and exhaust. Everything else you can powerwash the crap out of.

Yeh i doubt it will do anything if you just use running water, ive pressure washed the engine bay of every car i owned, never had a problem. If you want to be safe put a plastic bag over anything your worried about. I also leave the car running so if the car stops running or something you know right where you sprayed when it happened.

My alternator is in the bottom of the engine bay…so its kind of hard to avoid it…no matter what I do, water is gonna drip on it.
