I don’t know if this has been posted, but I thought it would make for an interesting thread.
Tell us what car you learned to drive in.
For me, the first car I ever drove was my cousin John’s late 70s vintage Toyota Corolla SR coupe- 3K engine, 4 spd manual. I think it was a '78 but I forget.
He thought it would be interesting to let me get behind the wheel and attempt to drive the thing around the block, which I kind of managed. In between the stalling and lurching, the experience was a lot of fun and pretty exciting. I was probably about 13 at the time.
I drove my uncle’s Pathfinder a handful of times, my grandmother’s Neon twice, and then got my Supra and took the road test.
Between those three completely different types of vehicles, somehow I learned to drive enough to pass. :lol
i dont remember but i learned to control the clutch in my bros 80 something 3 series, wat an awesome car that was so simple and cheap, nothing ever broke either, then he sold it… stupid…
Standard transmission, 07 Cobalt SS Supercharged (worst car to learn stick on. New clutch + drive by wire FTL). I knew how to drive it already since I have been riding dirtbikes and whatnot as a younger kid, but that was the first car I actually went out in traffic and drove regularly. I still have it today 32,000 miles later and still on the factory clutch haha.
It’s just a sticky clutch, and the drive by wire makes it weird as shit. It gives it gas when you tell it not to, and it lags when you hit it. It’s not bad though, I have driven cars that are WAY worse. Still, it pisses me off and I wish it were a cable throttle.
