put my driver side window back on its track on the beater.
Replaced my drivers side fender with a non rusted out one that I scored off someones parts car down here for 20 bucks! Also put full shadow trim on my car that I found at the junkyard, as well as a new glove box which I found on a different craigslist parts car. Started doing research on the e to i head swap with the i head and motronic ecu I snagged as well.
I thought you were selling that car
Gotta complete it and make it look better before I sell it man. I don’t want to sell it with half an interior and a mismatched/fucked up exterior if fixing it will help me get more for it.
got it inspected.
picked it up from getting a new torque converter installed… finally get to put some REAL miles on it for the first time since last october and since getting my new engine installed!!!
looked at it then shut the garage door and came back inside
Been grinding my left rear brakes for a good half of a month :rofl, took advantage of the warm day to change the pads and the rotor.
did work on my replacement radiator support, this has been a 4 day project but it worked great
before
electrolysis bath
after (sorry for the shitty pic)
done!
NICE JOB!!! details on the bath?
supplies:
washing soda (found at any grocery store)
battery charger
scrap steel
water
non conductive container
- measure gallons of water (however many gallons you need to submerge) (i used 35gal)
- for each gallon of water measure 1 TBSP of washing soda
- connect (-) terminal to item you want to remove rust from (terminal clamp can be submerged)
- connect positive to the scrap steel clamped to the side of the container or suspended in the water not touching the other item (surface area is key here, the more surface area the better, SHEET METAL) (i used a 2.5" exhaust pipe)
- put the charger on trickle charge (2amp) and let it sit over night
this guy explains it as he goes, check it out! he also says to use stainless steel, a bunch of other videos i have seen say not to use SS

this guy uses power from a welder, this just shows how powerful it actually is

*make sure you dont care about the scrap steel, it will start corroding and pitting up
starts out like this:
and ends up like this
would letting the bath sit longer harm the part?
that’s pretty damn neat… i’ve heard about it before and understand how it works, just didnt know the process… thanks for the info!!!
not at all, it will go until no rust it left.
No prob! try it out, it was fun and easy!
also for you smokers!
put the cigarette down while doing this whole process, as soon as the charge is put through the water it will begin bubbling, the bubbles are hydrogen and highly flamable! make sure you are in a large or well ventilated area
and HIGHLY EXPLOSIVE IN CONFINED AREAS
hydrogen isnt flammable until it reaches 4% by volume, and becomes explosive at 8% fwiw… not that the chance is worth taking, but just some random trivia
oh yeah, i dont have anything rusted to try it out on lol… just ask anyone who has seen my 'hoe :rofl
im not a nerd so i didnt know that lol but still wouldnt be taking any chances
:rofl
the military pays me to be a nerd… after 2 years i’ve just started to accept it lol
Anybody else notice the screaming people in the background on the 2nd video hahaha
