What does PS think of this truck?

2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD

6.0L

52,000 miles

I’m pretty sure I can walk with it out the door for $15,500.

:dunno:

Great truck, but the 6.0 kills you on gas. just get a 5.3 unless you are going to be doing some heavy duty pulling.

i have the same exact truck but with more chrome crap on it. i love it except the mpg. 13-14 ish empty on the turnpike and 10ish around town.

i paid 18 for mine with leather, heated seats and 42,000

it will fit in with you. AUTO

i think it is a damn nice truck though.

yeah I posted this on OT and immediately like 20 people were like LOL @ the gas mileage. I had no idea a modern truck could get that bad of gas mileage, minus maybe that 8.1L

mine gets 10.6 with 40% city 60% highway

I get about 20 MPG on the highway and about 15 around town in my avalanche with the 5.3 that 6.0 just insn’t made for gas mileage.

those 6.0’s seem to hold up pretty good. theres about 225K on the 6.0 truck at work. starting to tap a bit but the one you posted has a ways to go yet before 225K

i’d rock it

better off getting a duramax and get 15-17mpg or even a cummins

Gas trucks are lame

agreed, the 6.6 duramax is a hoss

Sounds right on the money to me. At the auction, it’d probably bring around 13k. There’s probably better deals out there, but if it is the exact truck you want, then do it.

Gas will be under $2 a gallon soon and Diesel will stay around the $3 mark. 5.3 with Flexfuel FTW!

how much power are you giving up going with the smaller motor?

the truck might be a little big if you are not gonna be hauling people around. personally if you plan on doing anything hauling wise i would get 2500. i like hte peice of mind of heavier brakes suspension trans. the truck does do about 9-11 towing though which i thought was pretty good.

the smaller motor isn’t too bad. i just do not like the weaker parts. but if just gonna be more less a commuter vehicle than yeah it will be fine.

I don’t do much towing with my Avalanche, but i towed my WS6 down to Tennessee and had no issues at all. I got about 12-13 MPG towing and going down towards TN, there are lots of up and down long steep gradded hills.
My step dad bought a 6.0 2500 HD and he doesn’t drive it any more, he bought a new 5.3 to drive around. his HD is just sitting in the drive way waiting to be used to plow their driveway. He loved the truck hated the gas mileage.

On the new 2009 models the 2500 HD has 360 HP 380 TQ
2009 5.3 L has 315 HP 338 TQ

Not missing much except the breaking capacity like Jeff mentioned.

Looks good to me, if you can get it at that price. Personally in an HD, I would get diesel, but I know not everyone is into that.

Going to take little boys on rides in your ‘fire truck’? That’s all you.

nice lookin truck

found an 04 GMC Sierra 1500 w/ the 5.3, 40k miles, LOADED, heated seats, leather, 6disk changer, etc. Just came in off a trade, buying it as is for 13,500 out the door. Going to pick it up in a few minutes. w00p w00p! I’m starting an V8 automatic Chevrolet collection.
