THanks man, I think i’m good, I have a server I can use which is fast too. I’ll just make a wmf file and host it asap. Just gotta go down the street to my uncles where the car is and try to capture every thing so you guys can see what i’m talking about.
Alternators, unless fried, can be rebuilt. Take it to Mississauga starter/alternator. Tell em Lou Mazzuca from MTC sent you. THey will take care of it

WMF? I hope you mean WMV.
Anywho, good luck.
if you have a short in your harness, that would blow your ecu, it would also drain your battery most likely if one of the wires taht were shorted were permanent power.
Okay here are a couple videos I took. First is me boosting the car and starting it, checking battery voltage once running, then checking the noise from engine. It seems battery is not charging when car is running. Also the PS fluid is low all of a sudden and i’m not sure if thats the ps pump which is making the noise. I checked the IC piping for a loose clamp to account for the bogging when accelerating maybe but looked okay, didnt really yank on the connectors hard tho. Core was damaged when I got it but was told by fourstar motorsports it was holding pressure. The thing I also noticed is that there are fresh stains on the pavement. It looks like motor oil to me. GTX is kind hard to see since its pretty translucent but I think its oil, so thats another problem I have come to see. Can’t tell where its coming from. But anyways take a look at these vids. I didn’t drive it around to show the bogging and what not cuz I was scared to damage anything. Here they are…
Video 1 - Starting and testing voltage, inspecting noise, ect
Video 2 - Stain on ground under car
Btw sorry for the Blair Witch style camera angles, hard to do so many things while holding the camera lol.
There they are, tell me what you guys think…
wow, something definately sounds fucked in the head, i suggest taking off the valve cover and taking a look, almost sounds like a timing chain guide is broken
dude… hunt down buddy who sold you this so called “clip” and break his legs… “sorry if that seems rude, but I’ve spoke with vic in regards to this many times and he got ripped of HUGE”
but in regards to that engine sound “darians sounds very slightly like that but ONLY when he 1st turns it over, once it starts, its gone”
Could the sound be from the power steering pump? I noticed the fluid level has dropped low in the PS tank, and i’m not sure. Its hard to capture the sound on video right. Then compress the video and keep it sounding the same. Also there is an oil leak on the ground now so I have to take a look and see whats leaking. Voltage is also dropping so alternator is prolly not working too. Im just guessing here, i’m not a mechanic or anything right. But Sasha said he might come by tomorrow and take look.
Try draining the oil into a clean container and inspect it for shavings. If it is good, put it back in, if you see shavings, bad news… Kinda sounds like it could be a bearing / increased friction noise but is hard to hear through the camera mic.
Good luck man.
Thanks dude, i’ll have to see what to do tomorrow. I guess i’ll have to eliminate things. I know I need timing done, but I dont have a lamp nor do I know how to do it since the little pulse loop on back of motor isnt there. Also plugs might be gapped wrong, just put them in from box, didnt have shims to gap nor do i know what it should be. I guess there are many things it could be. I wish I knew more about this stuff so I could troubleshoot myself.
Gap plugs to 0.028. Go to can tire … a plug gapping coin is like $2.99
(but I don’t think that is your problem dude)
That just sounds like “friction”. Something is toast!
It’s the Alternator…
Test the battery voltage while the cars running
It should be ~14.4.
While the cars running pull the negative terminal off the battery.
If the car dies the alternators bad, if idle drops it’s weak it nothing changes it’s good,
Might want ot be careful when pulling the -ve cable while car is running.
I’d definitely look under the valve cover and as Theo mentioned, check
your oil for shavings.
Your voltage should be somewhere around 14.4 when running so yea.
Good luck mate. Must suck for you. Trust me I’ve been there. Hopefully
I don’t have to visit there again.
Why?
Well when I got the car running and pulled off jumpers, you can see in vid taht voltage starts to drop is is way below 14, I didn’t let it go too long but I think the alternator is one of my probs. I’m gonna try taking off PS belt and see if that noise goes away so I can eliminate that. Then I guess go from there. Thanks for the tips tho, damn thing keeps me awake at night, just so stressed out. I would never do it again if would have known. But I guess thats the way she goes.
Well I think I traced down my probs, the ones I can tell anyways. I see that the fluid that was leaking was PS fluid coming out of one of the hoses I think. So I have to make sure everything is tight and not cracked then fill her up and see. Would also explain that weird noise, It sounds just the the PS pump is dry. As for the alternator I think it’s gone too, its not charging. So I have to replace it or rebuilt it, not sure if my KA one will work. Once I do those things i’ll see if that solves my problems. Also still need to do other things like timing and gap plugs. Then she will hopefully run fine. I’m crossin my fingers. Anyone in Etobicoke wana give me a hand with the alternator?
Anyways, thanks for all the suggestions guys, I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out.
Why?[/quote]
A spark might hit you :noes:
I’ve heard some broken alternators make some crazy sounds. Can you tell if it’s from there or not?
The PS pump shouldnt make too much noise if it’s not under load, but that still could be the cause of the sound - and they have to be pretty much right dry before they’ll start being loud.
didn’t your cam angle sensor still have the factory tape unbroken? meaning it should still be @ factory settings
Nope. Tape was broken, so we just eyeballed the timing so it would start, I have no idea what its at now. The pump is pretty dry I think, I just hope Its not fried after being run without fluid for a while.
I ran my pump without oil for over 2 weeks and she finally just stopped making sounds…
I dont think your pump will be toast.
