That a PO-DUNK little ass town (which court room is the size of my bedroom) would forget about an inspection ticket that my friend received in June. He completely forgot about court and while cleaning his room found the ticket… He never received anything from the court or the DMV for that matter… Usually if I miss court, i receive something from the court in a few weeks. Is it possible he could have a bench warrant out for his arrest EVEN if he never received a notice from the state?
most likely
theres no number on the ticket to call and ask? or he could always ask an officer to run his name/liscense through the system and hold his breathe…
A few years ago I got a ticket in Bennington, and whoops. Never heard anything from it.
could go the DMV and for 10 bucks see your driving record and the status of the fine.
here’s how you should solve this, ask yourself - what would I do in reference to this ticket?
After you answer your question tell your friend to do the opposite
HAHA before I got to the end, I was like…where is the punchline…BAM there it is.
This happened with a parking ticket before…I got one for “blocking a driveway” I wasn’t even close… so I tossed it out…a year later I called and asked about it, and they said it was payed a year ago :mamoru:
small towns dont care, they send it in. chances are his license is suspended. If you go to the dmv and ask chances are they will ask for your license for verification then keep it. He needs to contact the town and pay his fine. same thing happened to me when i got a high beam ticket i forgot about. Then when its all over he needs to get a dsposition from the courthouse proving the fines are paid because the dmv loves to fuck up and be late with removing suspensions. just incase he gets pulled over again and they see that its suspended.
Yea, in this day and age of computers, the man doesn’t just “forget” about tickets. I have gotten my fair share of citations, and have never just forgot to pay it. Its just not worth a ride to the police station because my license is suspended.
Sardinia?
Lancaster forgot about 2 of my tickets before. Speeding and inspection. They have no record of them, even though I even went to the first court date.
oh and usually when the DMV is about to suspend your license they send you a letter prior to this. My license has been suspended 3 times, one time led to a arrest for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
TRUTH. I got pulled over and the cop told me that my license was suspended for a ticket that I had paid over a year prior. I had to go back to the court and get proof that it as paid, and it still cost me $$ due to their fuck up. He told me that he was being nice by not arresting me!!
Same thing happened to me on my way to a work conference out of state.
Got busted for speeding on the highway…no biggie…I take the punishment I am due.
He comes back to the car and says you know you have a suspended license. I said no…the last ticket I got was maybe 2 years ago and I took care of it.
He said that the computer is saying its suspended and I should arrest you. He calls his shift supervisor to come out after I explain that I am on my way to a work conference and that I am positive I took care of that ticket.
I show him my hotel confirmation, he notes the luggage in the back of my SUV and says that he understands and that it actually happened to him once. He encouraged me to get it taken care of asap.
Next day I called Depew and asked them what the deal was…they said they have it on file as paid but simply forgot to alert the DMV…gee thanks and I had them fax me a copy of it to my hotel.
But if I would have been arrested, missed my conference, and subsequently got fired…I am pretty sure I would have been upset.
So I would never just hope that a legit ticket goes away especially since the ones that you do take care of dont always get filed properly.
But he is friends with the OP, so hes probably not the smartest in the first place.
