What is the proper way to mount sending units?

I have two sending units of this type:

before I had them just zip tied out of the way, I want to go back and do it right and mount them properly to the fire wall but I can’t find how to go about doing so.

Well I’m not sure what to call anything

You could make a loop bracket, that screws into the firewall or wherever you want it, so that way you put the sending unit in and its held securly by a metal strap that goes around it…

a bracket like so

but maybe not as beefy

or a flimsier one like so…

this way its cheap and you can make it out of thin sheet metal yourself

I’ve broken 2 due to vibration so I wouldnt hard mount them. That’s a big sucker (VDO?).

I have lots of give in the lines… unless your talking about breaking the sensor unit itself. What do you suggest? Any inexpensive mounting kits I can pick up?

I mean the unit itself. Mine are screwed right into the cyl head. If you’re mounting them remotely, I’d just zip tie them to something and maybe use a piece of rubber between the chassis (or whatever) and the sender to reduce the shock to the sender unit.

Mine were SPA (supposed to be higher quality than average? No idea) and failed after 1.5 seasons or so (5000 hard miles maybe).

what if you did the metal loop bracket, but had a rubber washer between it, and the firewall… That should help with vibration dampening…
