What modern autos will someday be classics?

that’s not a bad buy at all. pretty cool, usable, small truck anyways and if you keep it clean that’s going to appreciate for a while.

I’m surprised the 3000gt isn’t in last place, my buddy used to sell 20 of those a month in the early 2000s.

The SLs were more common than neons.

The Supra I feel like the price is a little low. I see a lot of those on ebay in the high 80s, some 125kish.

I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on the 300. Just put a sub in it, I love driving that thing with the tunes cranked up.

My 3kgt SL was a total snooze to drive. Looked great, absolutely disappointing to drive. And fuck FWD.

That’s an average price, so those crazy six figure examples are outliers.

I drove an early VR4 once. It was clearly abused by the previous owner but it just felt like a pig. I don’t know if it was on stock boost or not but I wasn’t a fan which was a surprise because I always wanted one. Once I opened the hood, I’m glad I never got one, they look like a pain to work on.

I can confirm its hard to work on. The rear turbo took 3 hours to remove.

Yup…and one of the manifolds is welded sheet metal and likes to crack. Also prone to vacuum leaks and snapping output shafts. :frowning:

I love these old Japanese cars but man all the trouble for 250hp at the wheels XD

I popped the hood of the nissan the other day to hook up my battery tender and all I could think is -

“this is the most over-engineered 150 WHP i’ve ever seen in my life”

I still love her tho

Man, there are some things I like about that car but several that I hate. Looks to be a Canadian market car. The displays on the dash are gross.

I like his price though :+1:

You bought the wrong Japanese car. You needed an S2000 if you wanted reliability and increasing value.

But really, 300’s are awesome. I’ve always been a fan of all the Datsun/Nissan Z cars. Still really want a 240z, 260z, 280z but that wont happen till I start bringing in more money and have a larger garage. haha

Right. Imagine if we were all able to know exactly which car to buy and at what point it is at it’s lowest before it skyrockets.

You mean we should’ve been buying 964s and 993s lol

I don’t ever plan to sell, but I do like having the option to throw it on Bring A Trailer and walk with solid $$$.

the cars that go up in value also cost a fortune to run, if you actually drive them, so they end up being shyte investments anyways…

Nsx is basically free to operate and values are going dumb…

Bought my first S2000 with 33k miles, sold it with 118k and only lost out $3k from what I paid for it. The only things I had to do were replace the soft top on a 17 year old car that sat outside and the rear plastic window finally cracked. Aside from that was a clutch master cylinder and a radiator. (radiator dry rotted on the top) Super happy with the lack of money having to be thrown at this car while taking it to 9,000rpm’s and exiting turns sideways on a regular basis. But I know this is a unique situation. They really built this car solid.

I wonder how the new Type R’s reliability will be in 20 years.
