THIS THREAD WAS TO COMPAIR THE RX7,300ZX,SUPRA,VR4,TYPE R TO EVO,S2000,STI,RX8,350Z JUST EXAMPLE!I FEAL AS IF THE 90’S CARS ARE WAY NICER THAN TODAYS.JUST MY OPINION
STOP TYPING LIKE THIS, how are those cars nicer than today’s? Do you consider more power nicer?
almost everything pre 2000 was better, cars/goverment/brittney spears
think about it in the 90’s
-Supra
-Better STI
-RX7
-240sx
-300zx
-couple of Honduhs
Now,
-Supra
-Better STI
-RX7
-240sx
-300zx
-millions of Honduhs
1989-2001 Japanese “muscle” was better than whats offered lately. although the new GT-R is quite the machine.
my reasoning for it, is the lack of restriction on most of the older cars, the new pedestrian safety,EPA regs, DOT reqs and all around lack of style is killing the car market. the japanese gentlemans agreement to not exceed 276bhp made things interesting, although the cars were hyped up a bit more for the US market with the 300zx’s 300hp model, the supras 320hp, and VR4s rating… i would have loved to be where i am now, but 10-15years ago when things were less regulated… obd2 = :headbang
I definitely agree, I was just wondering why he thinks so. I just plain think that the cars of the early to mid 90s look a heck of a lot better than most cars on the market today.
+119929393 agree that OBD2 SUCKS, thats y i dont have it ;D
LKSI, i hate the styleling of most new(2000+) cars, theres only a couple i would consider good looking. and most of them like the mustang they werent selling so they made them look like the 60’s versions. GAY
Yeah I meant to add especially new “muscle cars.” I wonder if dodge was kidding when they styled the new charger.
The Jap Super Cars of the 90s failed largely due to the high price.
Supras/RX7/3000GT/300ZX were VERY expensive.
true also… expensive even by today’s standards, but they were also very advanced for their time.
rx7 >>>> all in terms of all around performance out of the box. It’s too fuckin bad the cars from the 90’s failed so bad and now cost and arm and a leg to get a decent one.
+1 man
THE SUPRA AND RX7 ARE TIMELESS.THEY LOOK ALOT BETTER THAN THE EVO AND STI OF TODAY.ALL I WANT IS A GOOD LOOKING TURBO CAR OF TODAY.NOT A TUNED UP LANCER EVO 4DOOR ECONO BOX.THE 350Z,RX8 AND S2000 ARE THE ONLY GOOD LOOKING JAP CARS OUT BUT ARE ALL NA :wtf
ive heard from just abuot every one that was actually 20 in the 90;s( and not 10-16) that they were highly advaced for there time. i remember in 96 my dad went to a toyota dealership to buy a used celica, and they had a 97 NA supra in the showroom, and then followed by 3 hours of talk witht the GM
The RX7 is a well balanced and very capable car- It’s too bad that the engine reliability leaves a lot to be desired. Sequential turbos eliminate a lot of lag… WHEN they’re working properly. The system is terribly complex.
yeah, except the rotary recalls on a daily basis.
and 3000GT VR4 Spyder. 70k :runaway
the supras actually decreased in price throughout the model run, its too bad the best from the East had do die out. the 90s were great for cars in general, i mean F40,F50, Supra, Skylines, 300z,3000GT, Evos, Jag xj220, McLaren F1 and the list goes on…
having owned a volkswagen GTi and this RX-8, I can honestly say I put the rx-8 through twice the abuse and have had less than 1/4 of the problems I had with my piece of shit MK IV. Please don’t bash rotaries when you have no idea what you are talking about.
Not sure what the age thing means, but the cars mentioned brought a lot of new technology with them; sequential turbo systems, active aero, the ability to accelerate 0-60 in under 5 without a ton of power, 4 wheel steering, fade resistant brakes, and the NSX helped introduce america to VTEC which was the greatest accomplishment of all. A lot of money went into producing the cars and the retail price showed that
I can agree to an extent. a major problem was owners not knowing what they were getting into and also the fact that most people can’t do basic things to prevent problems and do the wrong things to provoke them. The turbos were indeed a issue, but had these people had proper ideas of what was going to be needed or how the car was to be maintained there would have been far less problems. Also bear in mind the first MY was the most produced and generally those are the ones with the most problems in the case of any car. I wonder what the conception of these cars would be had they produced an equal number of say a 95 spec.
