What oil to use in Jetta TDi?

im sayin 5w30 or 40 and mom doesnt believe me (its her car). Can anyone clearify this for me please?

Amsoil 0w40 FTW!!!

i dont want any performance crap… 5w30 it is

My mistake, I should have said 5w40 for Amsoil, it’s 0w40 for Mobil 1.

lol “performance crap”

Check VW 505.00 oil spec for an older than 2004 TDI, or the 505.01 specification for a 2004+ TDI.

I have the Amsoil made for your car in stock. It’s a specially formulated 5w40.

Shell Rotela T Synthetic 5w40 - 4 qt container at Walmart for around $13

Rotela T is one of the best diesel formulated oils on the market

Listen to Inn-Tune, use AMSOIL 5w-40 European Formula, It is made specifically for the VW TDi.

It is the only oil that will ever get near my TDi.

what if i put 5w30 near it?

Yea its an 01…the owners manual had those specs in there but it also said 5w30. We werent sure if that was just for the Gas motors or what (because those are listed in there also). I had her call Auto Zone to look it up and they said to use 5w30. i got too impatient and i wasnt going to drive 15mins to Batavia to get special oil for a car that isnt even ours (she lives in attica). so i just ran to the gas station and got a qt of 5w30. The dipstick was reading a little low so it wasnt like i was changing the oil or anything i just had to top it off.

…and it keeps my lifters from ticking longer than anything else I’ve tried, including Mobil 1. It’s good stuff.
