I know when you drop the insurance of a bike, you don’t have to turn your plates in but if you get rid of a bike all together, do you need to turn your plates in at all or once you sign the registration over, can you just destory them?
I called the DMV but they are so busy they just say “call back later” and disconnect the call so asking here.
Don’t turn them in if you plan on riding again. Even if you sold the bike, you don’t need to turn them in. I still have mine from my first bike 3 years ago, and transferred it to my last bike, and now they await whatever bike I end up with next. So if I were you, just hang on to them and save yourself the money for getting a new plate if you ever get another bike.
What form do they want? That sounds like BS. You can have a registered motorcycle without carrying insurance. You just can’t operate it. I don’t see what form they could demand. I’d ask for a supervisor and bitch them out.
After bitching, the girl finally canceled it. I told her its on the DMV website that you don’t need to turn the plates in and there is no lapse issue that you have with cars.
