OK so I was at mosport DDT on sunday lapping and on my 3rd session out I had no more power once I hit 5500 rpm.
It would bog hard at that rpm but anything under it was pulling normal, so I’m thinking fuel delivery.
Once off the track I popped the hood and some other guys were looking at it too and there was this noise coming from the fuel rail area. Someone else said it sounded like a kettle. It sounded like something was hissing then it would stop then start hissing again.
I have no experience with this but my initial thought is that the fuel pressure regulator is broken and is not holding pressure in the line. Therefore at higher rpm I have no gas for power and the noise with the car off is gas seeping by and back down the return line.
I’m also thinking it might be leaking injectors but I don’t see how that would only make me loose power in higher rpms. Wouldn’t the car run poorly in all rpms?
I think you may of split a vaccum line. Cars do some funny things when there is unwanted air involved, esp odd running condition.
Run your engine and get so brake cleaner and spray it over each line while wiggling them, if your rpm dips or goes up, theres your cracked line. The brake clean will raise the rpm usually. The brake clean is okay to get on your fingers, no worries there,
it would have had to been on the bottom of the intake… I do just have a stock intake but I’m only running stock boost as well is that something commen?
I wasn’t really considering a vacuum leak since the car doesn’t seem to suffer from sypmtoms at other rpms. It still idles fine and I was able to drive it home and I’m still driving it now with out much problem. I’ll take a look for a vacuum leak around the fuel rail though maybe something has cracked and that was the noise I was hearing.
happened to me when i put on a Z32 fuel filter because i tried putting it back in it’s stock location. It kinked the line and cut of any powered exactly at 5500 rpm. so i moved it out of the bracket and now all is well. try that and see if thats the problem
I still have no figured out this problem it seems to be electrical though. I’m having problems with my ECU voltage it drops to as low as 11.3 during heavy load. Battery voltage is above 13. The MAF voltage seems to max out and the car goes lean at 5500.
