What are your opinions on buying one???
if you plan on keeping it for a while id say do it. but if you gunne sell is within a few months its not worth buying. to many people dont wanna deal with em
Ask Janus
Depends on what and what for.
unless you get a screaming deal, run away.
If you plan on resale, I would say no. If it is for personal use that you will keep for a long time, depending on the car and reason for salvage, go for it.
pm speedracer89 and ask him, he buys salvage like every other day lol
Track car: Definitely
Beater that I planned to junk when I was done with it: Maybe, if I did my homework and knew it would pass the inspection to get registered.
Nice car to DD, maybe try to sell when I was done with it: Fuck no.
There have been many topics on this and lots of pros and cons. do a search.
personally i always own salvage cars, and really never had a problem. It really depends on why its salvage. My sister drives a Lexus RX350 that had a fire extinguisher system go off with the windows down. A good vacuum/cleaning and that car is perfect. I’ve owned a lot of thefts lately that have no damage to them.
It all depends.
would depend on the damage done. Being totaled on a new car could be very little damage
I think this a great idea. Don’t listen to the haters.
Need more information…
My first car was a salvaged vehicle that a collision shop bought and repaired. It was a great car and never had any problems.
There is a lot to look for when looking at a salvaged vehicle so make sure the person who got it knows what they are doing it.
Sofia Collision in Rochester did mine in 2002.
It was all covered above. If you are trying to flip it to make money, you won’t make money. If you are buying it for yourself, you can often save a lot of money buying a properly repaired salvage title car.
Buy: If you intend on keeping the car forever or tracking the shit out of it.
AS LONG AS everything is good about it (AKA no bent frame ETC)
Dont buy: if you intend on ever selling it.
It really depends. You’re being too vague.
Again, even if you end up selling it … you wont get too screwed. It depends on damage and you understanding its not worth bb or market value anymore.
I’ve never had an issue selling my salvage cars.
Sometimes if the police impound someone’s car it automatically gets listed as salvaged and auctioned. There’s certain specifications as to how it gets declared salvaged but I don’t remember them. My lawyer bought a carrera 4s for dirt cheap because a drug dealer used to own it.
First of all, make sure the car has or could pass the NY Salvage Inspection. Every part that came from the factory with a VIN tag must be accounted for…either original or have receipts for replacements.
Second, salvage due to theft > collision. Usually theft recoveries are still structurally as sound as they left the factory.
Third, if you can get it for a good deal, do eet because the resale value will be crap and if something happens to it while you own it…insurance will definitely lower the payout if totaled again…if they insure it in the first place.
Salvage cars can be great…just have to shop smart.
Good luck
meh, I probably would walk away…
but, under certain condition (good deal), perhaps…
