pulled the wheel off my car today to try to diagnose a slow air leak from the tire. turns out i have a small crack on the inside of the wheel. anyone know a place that repairs wheels cheap? its just a rota slipstream, so im not looking to spend a ton of money. or does anyone have a tig welder and some free time?
Frey The Wheelman Inc
its goona be the same even u repair the wheel, and the wheel is pretty hard to repair, they charge alot for it
PM audios, see if hes willing / what he would charge
I had Don’s welding on Transit do a rim for me once. I can’t remember what they charge but they fixed it right and it never leaked again.

more info?
a new wheel is like $160, which is insane for a 16 inch cast wheel.

They’ve welded everything from cast iron frypots to mag wheels for a friend of mine.

never mind. frey doesn’t do aluminum wheels, and the people they referred me to said “aluminum wheels cant be repaired”. how do stupid people run businesses?
Because technically they shouldn’t be repaired in most cases.

LIABILITY.
Have you ever heard the stories of when a guy tries to mount a 40 or so series tire on a patched rim and it blows apart on the machine sending shrapnel flying through his head and everywhere else? Yeah, thtat probably isn’t going to happen, but when you are sitting behind the phone all day talking to Joe shit the ragman, liability comes way before making a quick 50 bucks. Hell, I machine rotors and drums here at napa quite often and if the thing is .001 under
spec, it goes in the garbage. I could lose everything if something did happen.
Bottom line is it doesn’t sound like a stupid answer to me. Actually it seems of questionable intelligence to not just buy the new rim especially if the car ever sees track use…
I had to pay to fix a rim once because I couldn’t find any more of my specific wheel in the country and they charged me $110 to repair it. I’d rather have a new wheel for $160 then an old repaired one for $110, just my opinion though.
i might have a bullet sized hole in a certain blue wheel…hopefully she can be fixed.
Stupid road chisels.
