Wheel space quality. Does it matter?

So, with this brake modification I’m doing to my CRX I need to either move the rotor out 3mm or grind 3mm off the caliper bracket(I need to move the caliper inwards or move the rotor out.). Not having access to any machining tools, I’ve opted to move the rotor out 3mm.

So I’m in need of a 3mm 4x100 wheel spacer. I could use washers, but I’d much prefer not to skimp out on something that actually has to do with my saftey.

I’ve been looking on ebay and just shopping around. I can get 3mm “Universal” wheel spacers off ebay for $7. Otherwise, there are many other places that sell much more expensive solid steel and aluminum ones, ranging from 40 dollars to $100.

Needless to say, I need to know if anyones had experience with the cheap spacers from ebay, because I really don’t feel like dropping $40+ for wheel spacers.

Thanks,

Sobo

can you space the caliper carrier?

Just don’t tighten the lug with an impact wrench.

I have cracked cheap spacers before, and the wheel flies off the car.

I’m pretty against spacers…

You have to grind the caliper bracket down 3mm which is something I’d need a mill for.

Either that or I can space the rotor out 3mm.

you can get spacers from pepboys that are universal…i ran them on my car for a while and had NO problems at all…

ah okay, i had to go the other way and use a single flat washer between a carrier and spindle when we went from some out dated 2 pc rotors back to a stock size with a different hat depth since the parts were not available to service or replace the 2pc units.

I have a whole bunch of 4x100 wheel spacers

IDK if the hub centerbore will clear but you can have 2

I’ll definately hit you up on those. I need like a 3mm one or something of that nature.

the only ones i felt comfortable running when i did a few yrs ago where the h&r hubcentric that came with the longer studs
