what about your windshield?
the foam backing should make it easier if anything. If the foam is already on the material, it helps to keep it a bit more rigid when your applying it, and will help it go on without wrinkling. I just redid my headliner with foam backed stuff and it was a piece of cake. took me 10 minutes and came out perfect.
EDIT - just found some protective stuff. it’s not that expensive considering how much it covers, but i’m still trying to find a place that sells it in smaller amounts.

$8/yard ain’t too bad. Make sure it’s the microsuede, not the sueded fabric.
