After looking at my motor when we torn it down we have reason to believe I have an injector that is not flowing the same as the rest. My injectors are Ford Racing 42lbs that I bought new this past spring. I know New Era does this type of service and I just looked it up on there site and its $80.
Has anyone personally had their injectors checked out by them?
And does anyone know of other places in WNY that does this type of service, flow your injectors providing you the data to compare them, and possibly clean/fix them if one is bad?
New Era does a great job. I had my LS1 injectors done by them. They gave me a flow sheet and suggested placement (since they know the LS1 so well - cyl 5/7 tend to run lean etc)
New Era did mine, I had a bunch of 36’s (24 or 30) get the full service last winter. I placed 2 on the high side that flowed something like 4cc more in cly7 and 8 with the traditional LSx style intake. I also have a WB 02 in my #7 primary tube, each collector, and after my Y pipe. Doing that really helped numbers over most normal setups when you look into some others similar setups without knowing this injector info. I have the extra injectors will full data. I marked their number right on the body, but them come numbers in a bag is you don’t what the look of them numberd. I’m gona use agian soon too when I get my other intake on. Its a single plane, carb style, spider looking ( edlebrock super vic) on the motor too. I’ve done some plenum and runner work, but still has a big difference on paper between the inner and outer runners, and shows up when its as cast more on guys the cat and read plugs.
This is for my GTP when I sold it. Put the richest on the middle 2 cly, and for it having stock exhaust manifolds what cly that affects.
this was someone on roclife a few years ago. one of the 1st sets ran, there was a bunch or guys there to see this. He got them form the Jyard for some turbo honda he was gona do over the winter. this is a add video but shows how bad they can be, if you want some tech info http://www.youtube.com/user/studderin?feature=mhum#p/u/39/DUPqrgZdIU8
Some are stuck closed, and will not open at all or stuck just off the seat dripping. They can fix them if they get them to open. to get solvent in to clean with ultrasonic wash, and flush and reverse flush a few times they will come back. Just have get get deposit out. clean the body up and repaint if they are metal, or you want. And new filter, and Orings too.
your injectors are in your hand or in your car??
i went to a place where the guy had thiscrazy machine full of fuel and he disconnected my fuel lines and hooked all 6 up to this…it cleaned out everything and saved a clogged injector in like a half hour…cost 60bucks
Shops kinda closed for PRI, shwan/ryan making a skeleton crew tring to get the phones today. And do orders, same thing mon. If you didn’t get a hold of anyone.
how many do you have? Its better if you get a few sets to place them like you want. I forgot a lot of this stuff, Mike showed me how to run the machine 2 winters ago. I rounded all my stock gtp inj. I had like 30 of them. did the cleaning cycles and new parts. The messed around at different depression, and PW More then the standard data used for doing this . Its not linear flow rates, and closer to static, over 80% there really change. Its the same as valve float, they get uncontrolled and flow different. So it good to find out were you will be running them. oh heat too changes them alot when there turned up, FYI good operator knows this. I would keep track of fluid temp and the inj body, and cycle them 1st to warm them up. And note what fluid they used while were talking tech… Most don’t use gasoline so the numbers will be a little different. New Era uses Heptane, I think it flows 1.5- 2% less then gasoline, somthing like that?
