hey guys. i have an 89 coupe sohc 5speed and i was under the hood today cuz im dealing with some problems and i noticed a connector by the starter with no home lol and i was wondering where does it go? heres some pics.
the back end is red
looks like the female end is blue
heres were it splits off the harness. there is only about a foot length
That plugs into your exhaust bearing manifold!

deff not a coolant sensor.
One of the tranny sensors perhaps? Take a look around the tranny.
Honestly, I have no clue… I have a connector just like that on mine (90 SOHC, US car if it matters).
The only CEL’s I get once in a while (plays peek-a-boo) are for EGR function (sticking EGR?) Never had a CEL for anything else…
I guess its for some kind of factory option that we don’t have?
Maybe its something for a DOHC? lol
If only DOHC existed in 89’ lol

if anyone has a sohc 5speed can you just look and see if you got the same deal lol ill take a look around the tranny. and is it just me or is there no CEL on 89 240’s? is the exclamation light thingy? i always thought that was for your ebrake and crap. its not an altornator connector cant even reach and its plugged in. ive looked around the engine bay for things that it could reach but nothing. maybe its something for an auto tranny?
May be it connects to the VTEC solenoid?
But seriously, like I said above (mine is 5 speed), it isn’t plugged into anything for mine. Also, the (!) is the ebrake. Check to see if the sensor (plunger thing) is sticking, and/or check to see if you’re low on fluid.
IIRC, my old automatic 1990 also had a plug that didn’t plug into anything either, same location, same plug…
If you’re car is running fine, I wouldn’t worry about it…
its a nothing connector… lol i was just underneath my 89 hatchback the other day and i have the same plug thats not connected to anything i have a 5speed. mine has a plastic plug cover on it so i would just assume yours fell off? so dont sweat it! my car runs fine no problems and its not connected! i would assume it has something to do with the automatic trannys, thats why its not connected.
