Where is CRC going?

I agree Samir and that is the idea. With the last 2 years behind me and in the back of my head, going full time especially with wanting to start a family soon is going to be nothing more than a dream at this point. Nobody here knows how hard it is for me to admit that. This is all about trying to get my life back on point.

I guess this means I better start enjoying my office job a bit more huh? lol

I wish you guys the best of luck…i had nothing but good experiences with you guys at crc and I look forward to doing business with you in the future. If you need help with anything as far as moving, setting up, or help with construction on the weekends let me know.

Thank you chris, you are a good customer and a great friend.

too many people are only focused on the dollar signs. to me it seems like you have your priorities right.

(now someone can make a dumb ass comment about how ironic this is coming from the guy sitting in law school)

mike all you need is one wreaked f40 a year and dave can be your dennis and buy it off of you haha

Good luck Mike, hope I can get some more purple parts !

Wish you luck! I’m sure I’ll be a repeat customer for Bike PC-ing work.

Big THIS.

Quality of quantity.

We operate our business this way. You can’t think of the commission. You work on getting satisfied clients no matter what the sale is and you will always get referrals and it’s the only way you will survive in this business.

Best of luck to KK.

Sure thing Tony! I enjoyed coating that bike and would like to do more like it. thank you.

Mr. creep is right and that’s what we are focusing on this go around. I am a firm believer that drilling too many holes in the bottom of your boat by undercutting yourself to focus on the quantity side of the equation only sinks your boat. Meaning the more crap you take on just to get work to do with a profit margin per job so small that you are forced to cut corners and cheapen out the project to try not to work for free in the end. Which usually you do if you have a conscious left and feel the slightest bit like a cob jobber, so you stay later and work for free. So I am not even entertaining those customers anymore. We want to focus on quality. People with money tend to pay for quality a lot easier than someone looking for a “deal”. You do good work for them, and they refer (hopefully) equal mindset friends to you for more quality work demands.

That’s how this country boomed back in the day, and the hole drillers I eluded to are the ones I feel are the cause of the downfall this country is stuck in now.

that statement comes with a big fat IN MY OPINION.

Mike, if this aint about money and this is about your family and taking care of them yada yada… Why did you even consider a business of your own? lol… You make plenty of money working for the state and its consistant and long term with no guessing game and the biggest, no risk involved… I guess I dont understand?

And while I understand where Boost Creeps field of work quality is more important then quantity ext, car repair and car sales are a different ball game in my opinion… Customers in my current “field” want cheap cheap cheap… And how can you sell cheap cheap if your putting brand new parts apposed to quality used ones and not taking short cuts whenever you can…

You need to understand me more, and how my brother and I were brought up. My late grandfather has a big influence on my life. He was a long time GE worker, back when this country had a set of balls and worked for what they wanted to earn. He was inventive and skilled. My father works for everything he has extremely hard, instilled those values into me too. Hell he sold me my first truck for way more than it was worth looking back, but he made me earn it. I don’t get handouts, never have and never will. I also try to make everything around me perfect, which has been a major downfall for me. It clouds my judgment at times and makes me take rash actions, and it usually backfires in my face. So I am forced to choose… continue to help everyone around me or start to help myself. People who don’t know me well think that’s selfish I suppose, but the people who know me and what I have been through I hope understand what I am trying to do.

That being said, my current job is the polar opposite of everything I said, and I does not make me want to get out of bed every morning to go do. We all laugh and think a cushy office job doing nothing and getting paid for it is awesome, but it fucking blows. I need to force myself to get up and go do it, so any supplemental income from doing enjoyable work on the side is what keeps me sane, makes me feel like I am not living for nothing. Simple as that.

Cheap cheap cheap… in the grand scheme of things that is catastrophic. Sure it works #'s wise to start off, and the next guy down the street but it can and will catch up to you. You hire a tech to fix your junk with junk. He is getting the same flat rate pay as the guy working on nice clean cars. Example: AC comp on a civic. Its bellow the alternator, which is below the PS pump. Hes is getting paid 1.2 hrs lets say to swap it. If the cheap car is botched, bolts are stripped, brackets are rusted its taking him longer to even get at the part he wants to replace. On the clean nice car, its off in a jiffy. You hand him a used part for $100 to put in it the crappy car. he puts it all back together, charges the AC. Done in 1.2 hrs on the button. You hand the guy the new ac comp for $200 for the nice car finishes the job in 1.0hrs. (keep in mind your paying him the same no matter what but now he has .2hrs more time he can work on another car for you  ) Crappy car, comp is a dud wont come on. Good car is on the lot for sale working fine. Now, you have to dick with a warranty claim with JBAP, wasting time while that nice car is being looked at by a customer where your attention should be. Or there isn’t a warranty on the used part. Now you either gamble on another $100 used one which puts you at the price of the new one to begin with, or your not making that mistake again and buy the new one putting you $100 over budget on the repair. And that part isn’t going to swap it self in there so your paying your tech again to do it… but wait your tech is working on another car for you… so this car sits and waits now.

Some say I think to far into things… but feel free to shoot holes in that example.

the only aspect you are missing in regards to hacking cars together that you plan to sell, is the negative impact on your dealership’s reputation…i worked for a guy for a while doing dmv paper work at his dealership and the place was a dump…building, location, and inventory all had great potential, but employing scumbags and morons combined with cutting corners on everything is currently sinking that business…im not going to say the name of the dealership but i would bet my left nut if i PM’d you the name you could pull their file and it’s gotta be filled with nothing but complaints/claims against them…i used his showroom to sell a 96 corvette with 13,000 miles on it in 2010…i payed 9 for it…it was worth 20,000 all i had to do was detail it, not a scratch on it, and it sat forever because nobody trusted the dealership, i sold it to prestige auto for 14,700 and he sold it for 22,000. so cutting corners in the automotive business only leads to failure IMO.

People in Schenectady want cheap cars they can buy for $3k or less. Ive seen one dealer have nothing but cheap old high mileage cars and their inventory changes almost daily because they have what people want.

Glad to see you staying positive mike, it is Mental Alchemy.

You will be up and running soon and you’ve always done quality work!

KK are you still going to be using the big oven? I want to get my winter wheels done in something obnoxious when the snows gone.

yes I still have the same oven for pc work. 4’x4’x6’ IRC 72" diag is the largest item I can fit inside it.

Sorry to hear your closing but glad to hear your still going to do quality work but for what you deserved to get paid. Everything I have seen you do was always top notch with the utmost attention to detail but lacking in the charge the customer the amount of money you should have. Being in the same business I too can relate after five years of biting my tongue and defending my work to cost ratios how you can become jaded about people and working on their cars. Like you said, most car guys are cheep fucks, simple and true. When you care about the work as much as you do you should be paid accordingly, I learned early on its not worth doing unless it’s done right. I may have caught shit here and their and took my share of bad press but I always made good to whoever it was I “wronged” and from what I see of your/CRC work you shouldn’t have to eat that kinda shot either. Good luck and remember everything your saying and feeling now because in a year people will be crying the blues about how they can’t afford to do it right and they just need it fixed cheep, stand your ground and be proud as you are and tell them to hit the road. Remember anyone can tell you how you should have run a business, many will tell you how they ran a business, but few ever do run a business-for better or worse. It takes balls and commitment most will never understand or see for themselves. I applaud you in your efforts and wish you luck on your future self owned garage. Remember keep it fun and your friends are the dudes who show up to help yah move

Thank you very much for understanding both my response and how it really works when the shoes of your name being behind a business and a service to others are on your feet. Your comments carry a lot more weight than those who never put our shoes on and fought the fight we did/do. With all of this going on around me, many true colors came out some for the better and some for the worse. Unfortunately the ones for the worse hurt the most, but at this point I personally am at a pivotable point in my life and the “shop” is only a small percentage of what I need to get done to establish a base for my life and my (planed to be soon) family. Hopefully the nonsense that clouded the window they are looking through will clear up and they will see what’s really taking place on the inside. Thank you again for keeping my head up and giving me the drive to keep moving forward with our plans. Like you said, I need to stand my ground because this is really my battle, not theirs.

Congrats on the Baby, you’re going to see REAL quick that NOTHING fucking matters in this life but your wife and kids.

Not yet!!! lollll just planning ahead! hahahaha but it will be next summer, atleast that’s the plan. and yes, I can totally see how that changes your outlook on things… hence me getting a jump start on not giving a fuck about what people think now, and putting my family first.
