WHERE MY NERDS AT. (another computer thread)

as with all technology man, as with it all

For S&G’s…I went through and rebuilt the entire system including water cooling. Here is what I came up with. :wow

This thing would haul ASS and be silent/ice cold at the same time. Only thing I’d probably change is getting that lower level Sandy bridge mentioned above and not the $1000 one. So…say…saving $400 on the price in the picture with todays pricing.

I’d be re-using my SSD and 2TB drive from my current PC. There are other things I’d buy like a decent 5.1 Speakers, some USB 3.0 Hubs, misc. cables, etc. but this is the bulk of the cost.

This would be a Photoshop, Lightroom, Premier/PowerDirector editing machine + gaming machine (BF3, etc.).

lol

I know. As James May always says about Jeremy Clarkson…POWAAAA. :lol

unless your going to overclock the fuck out of it for benchmark scores don’t even bother watercooling, its a waste of money IMO

…like I said…I’m going over the top. I was talking to KrazyKid about water cooling my current PC way before I even put together this cart. And part of the reason why I’m looking to water cool is because there are no good 2011 cooling systems yet…and Intel doesn’t ship a cooler with the 2011 chips as far as I can tell/read.

Plus…water cooling looks bad ass :lol. I’m going all out with my next build regardless.

There are other benefits to it than just having lower temps. More quiet, less loud. My fans right now are set to manual 100% (Zalman). It’s not LOUD, but it’s certainly not quiet.

Meh do as you please, I just think that unless your into hard overclocking etc

Why spend 3-400 on a watercooling setup you don’t need when you can get a decent air cooler thats not loud by any means?

FWIW… the newer sockets use them same moutning as older ones so any current cooler will work just fine.

I read that too…but the new socket has threaded holes so not all nice coolers from the last/current sockets work. That’s why some of the nice ones don’t work or don’t fit properly.

I’m going for the :wow factor with my next build.

Watercooling, been there, went HAM. It’s a waste :lol

Still looks awesome.

Kind of like crazy camber on cars. Super stupid, not cheap, but works for some folks because of the ‘style’. I’ve never had a water cooled PC so…next one will be it.

Because theres no need for one, while a properly setup one is pretty hassle free… its not as hassle free as a good air cooling setup…

and IMO a good proper air setup with a properly setup case will trump watercooling

i’ve done air cooling on alot of setups that i think worked great as long as u take some thought on airflow it usually works out fine

Aircooling CAN (not always) be much more efficent then watercooling in the right setting and setup. Again the only time I think watercooling is worth it is for extreme overclocking for dick swinging benchmark scores

You can make a very quiet and cool system with the right fans and case insulation

^yup

get rid of that cheap jank ass case and drop a lian-li or antec case in there

Antec ftw! Cases and power supplies.

Def man, I ran the Antec P180 for a long time, my brother runs it now. VERY quiet, high quality case!

Def a very nice case. I ran the 300:
