Well, I am looking to begin investing in something. I have money set aside that is sitting in a second savings account that I do not touch and have not touched for some time.
Would like to put it to use and do more with it than a less than half a percent of return. Where are some good places to start learning about investing? Who to talk to? Best places to start an investment portfolio with?
check out lending club…micro lending site…depending on how much you have they have some solid results so far…but it can be risky…but you get to pick everything you invest in yourself so you have no one to blame but you.
I agree with you. I’ve made much more money just renting out a couple apartments than I have ever made in my 401k account. Especially in WNY you can’t go wrong.
Right now; Property. The market is super low, renters are at an all time high, and if you are handy and can handle the repairs, then it’s a great time to get in.
More stable, better returns, less risk than “normal” investing.
The downside to property is the market is illiquid and property taxes can go up at the administrations whim. You could get shitty tenants as well, but you have some control over this unlike the first 2 points. That said, if you’re looking long term I don’t see much better than income property out there. It’s tangible, plus many people are hurting credit wise and cannot buy so they must rent.
Notice how he was suggesting anything that is TANGIBLE or collateralized. There’s a reason I admire this guy.

Guns & ammo go without saying as far as I’m concerned.
I agree with the Ammo as well. Trying to find a deal on some 223. and not talking about a few hundred rounds either.
Real estate done at least anywhere remotely successfully will pay you back more then 95% of everything else on average.
There is no way done right that a guy making $50K a yr cant be retired in 10-15 yrs 99% of the time. I dont mean sitting on a beach in florida retired, I mean not punching a clock daily. You are driving a 5+ yr old small truck and you’re clipping coupons and probably working 60-70 hrs a week but it will be worth it soon enough
