I know quite a few of you guys are running SR’s now and I was wondering where you bought them from and your thoughts/experiences were with the quality of the clip you got. Just tring to do a little research before I head out and pick up mine in the spring. Any and all info is welcome. Thanks
Don’t buy clips, always buy motor sets, they’re cheaper and are way easier to work with. Clips are old-school.
Talk to Varun (slipperysilvia) on the forum. He’s our SR supplier.
I have seen alot of people get screwed with motor-sets which is why I like the clip option. But I will talk to slipperysilvia thanks.
what?
clips are probibly the best cheapest way to get a nicely running stockish SR.
if you find a complete front clip in decent shape… which is easy to come by, the pick one of those up.
everything is included and theres no guess work as the where things go. take off one car. put on other car.
the only way i wouldnt get a clip is if you have bolt ons in mind that will replace major engine parts…
nehoo, talk to varun regarding engines and ask lots of questions about the swap so you get the right info… however SEARCH before questioning.

Agreed. Good advice.
Clip is a bit more expensive but it will save you the hassle of having to source parts if your motorset is missing things.
I agree as well I would buy a clip over a motorset anyday. Its alot easier to make sure you have all the little peices.
Dude? what are you talking about, clips are the cheapest and easiest way. Everything is already there and you need nothing extra.
Andrew.
Well I’m glad to see most of you guys agree that clips are the way to go. Now where did you guys all get yours I don’t imagine you all got your clips from this varun guy. I have all the info I need to purchase the clip I know what to look for ect, I just want to know a reliable place I can go to check out there stock and pick a nice clip out for myself.
actually Varun (slipperysilvia) does get clips once in a while as well. PM him (he’s on vacation at the moment, but he will get back to you sooner or later)
Not to get further off topic but:
clips are twice the work (remove two engines and put one in), ridiculous and expensive to transport, clearly more expensive, are stacked when stored (scratches, broken things, etc.), include broken glass, and are messy.
However, you do get everything you need to get your car up and running, so it’s often the best way out.
And you dont think motors when they are shipped over are not just thrown into containers where they have to fend for themselfs lol. At least with a clip the engine is protected by the body pannels…they often dont make it out after very well lol.
regardless of what is said the best budget way to do a swap is with a clip PERIOD.
who cares if you have to pull and extra engine out… waht does that take… an hour?
GT
yeah a clip is more work, but the eng. cond. will be much better, have you ever seen a container shipment? engine atop engine… also you’ll know the routing of everything and hopefully have everything. as well with the 1/2 I’d say the running likelyhood should be better. But if you want add-ons, you have parts overlap.
as for mine I purchsed for Big Jap, $4000(S13 BLACK), body panels, EVERYTHING (except an ignitor!!and he wouldn’t rectify it) but the ECU was BLITZ tuned. Thanks !IQUABOB! for the ignitor. Eventually LuckyDFR (okay fine, hector help too)got a CA ignitor to work, yes it works! I also considered Tiger Japenese. everyone hypes Varun, no disrespect, I’ll meet him soon, I’m sure his motors are great.
EDIT: It took 3 of us 2 hours, slack to pull it from the clip.
maybe half hour if youre drunk…an hour to pull the sr and the ka…haha
but ye…my next swap will be done with a clip…
