Maybe Radio Equipment Corp. on Vulcan? I doubt they’re open today though.
You can probably buy one made in China at Harbor Freight.
mini torch ftw
home depot had/has a pretty large lineup of this stuff ranging from cheapo to mucho money.
I have a pretty nice butane mac one I would like to get rid of.
Weller makes some of the best soldering stuff. Here is what I’ve been using at work for the past 2 years, its really good…
Sears might have it locally.
home depot still sells weller soldering stations if I’m not mistaken. that’s where I got mine from a while back
this is your answer
what size are you looking for? why so particular about the kind?
im working on some small stuff on a circuit board and the last shitty one I got wouldn’t heat evenly.
I got one from harbor freight a while ago that I never opened. I think its pretty decent tho.
i have this, it has never let me down.
yeah … if your doing benchtop work i highly recommend a station … and get yourself a good solder sucker
but for someone like me … i am mobile and in tight places i rock cordless butane units
I got a Hakko solder station, ive done alot of soldering and its the best one i ever had.
Id get a hakko if i were you.
I have a Weller WES51, and several Hakko 936’s. The Hakko is by far a superior iron, and a Weller WES51 has failed on me before.
Harbor Freight has irons that look like the Hakko 936, theyre probably good, unless you plan on putting a ton of hours on it. The butane powered units I used all sucked, hardcore in comparison.
Hakko has a nice solder sucker… It works great on through hole parts.
Get a solder station and an assortment of tips. Its like having the right size screwdriver when you need it.
Also, make note of lead vs lead free if you are messing with boards. You should not try to use lead free solder on leaded, but you can use leaded on lead free.
