In general, or actaully during a drag race?

If in general:

81 Aries K: 3 auto transmissions
84 Tempo: Transmission shift lever, ultimately nosed it into a mailbox
87 Omni: blown motor, destroyed transmission linkages (there’ll be a pattern here folks), fried clutch
88 Ranger: transmission shift forks, a couple of tree trunk visits.
98 Jetta: nosed it under another car (don’t ask)
00 Ford F150: 5 rear ends, transmission shift forks
Current:
03 Wrangler Rubicon: busted the Nylon transmission shift cover in half
06 Charger: TSB for Transmission Cooler line seals.
92 Honda: axles axles axles

I <3 Transmissions

oops. didn’t realize there was already a thread.

98 Olds cutlass V6 - trying to get up the mountain by Uniontown after going camping

i dont even know where to begin

96 Grand Am V6 - Motor from head gasket leak - Tranny just doing speed limit and it went.

25 cars.

and none of them were fast.

1988 S10 Blazer 2.6 V6…tranny 3rd gear…was an automatic so i was kinda screwed…got rid of it and since i’ve only blown up simple shit like upper rad hoses

X2

2 VR6s in my '98 jetta, the manual transmission in a '77 sierra, the motor in my '94 escort that I traded in on the jetta (I put 60 weight racing oil and lucas in it so I could maintain oil pressure to drive it to the car dealership, and it died while they were taking it to auction…blanyer and I had to drive out to the franklin park police station to prove that i’d traded it off and not abandoned it on i-79), at least one clutch, not to mention cars I’ve totaled.

Joe must be compiling a spreadsheet of carnage

Add a few small items to my list (this past summer)…

  • Rear Diff posi unit
  • 4th gear in the T56
  • smoked the clutch on the last pass in October, but it is still driveable.
  • I’m almost certain I will be breaking the T56 again sometime in the near future (traction, weight & power are conspiring against it)

92 Firebird 305 - I have no idea how, but wound up embedding the valves into the #4 piston.
86 Camaro 700R4 - Too much power on a dinky tranny.

I blew up this 9mm.

Why, mostly cause it was a POS that broke while out shooting last friday night.

oh shit…now that sucks…glad it didn’t get your eye

Given all the years of racing the shit out of it, my '99 Z/28 was very reliable.

'99 Z/28- Stock Torque Arm - took out the Driveshaft when it went (thanks to Pewter for hooking up the cheap DS back then)- Original Slave/Throwout Bearing - replaced/upgraded the clutch, flywheel, master and slave/throwout while I was at it.- Bent a few Pushrods, actually broke one - Let a buddy drive, and he did the 2-3-2.

'02 Z06- Diff - wheel hopped it too much drag-racing on the 19s. Started gear-whinnng bad on the way home. Drove it like that for another 3-4 months, never actually failed. It was just louder than shit.- I think the clutch is about done.

Safety glasses. I may have not been wearing them if my son wasn’t with me, but I always try to set the good example for him. It’s hard to tell him to wear them, and then he sees me shooting without…
