Who can install gears?

Thinking about a set of 4.10’s for my car… but would like to find a shop to assemble the diff (i will remove it from my car and bring in the diff & gears)

anybody use any shops locally to setup their gears? i guess the BMW gears are pretty finicky when it comes to tolerances… ive never done this myself or would consider it…

Fleet pride?..there usually pretty good

Do you know a ballpark figure i can expect?

Bracketracer

he already said he wouldnt touch it…

R&E Speed and Fab on Sawyer in ToT.

There was a place in Tonawanda that came highly recommended, but can’t recall the name of the place off hand

check with Dave putnam @ Competition Transmissions. Not sure if he does BMW stuff, but he’s the only one i trust with rear end stuff. Fleet pride=NO

that was the place

dropped my mustang off to get my 4.11’s installed a few years ago. When I went to pick it up, he said that the car needed a few things before he could do them (I forget exactly what the problem was).

I was a little disgruntled at first, but huge tup to them identifying a problem and NOT installing the gears only to make problems worse. Seemed like a very stand up guy and have heard nothing but good things about him and his shop

If i where you i would find a place the specializes in bmws. There maybe special tools required to do these.Even the newer vettes require special tools that most places dont have. When i did a vette at work we had to borrow tools threw the dealer to put it back together.I could be wrong. But better safe than sorry.

4.10’s? What rpms will you be spinning on the highway?

LOL like 4K at 70 lol

Well I guess there is no point in a rematch now lol

doesn’t it have a 6 speed transmission? It should be lower than that I’d think

its pretty tight gearing since it revs out to 8K

word… we do a lot of stuff with Putsy. he is good

even after you install the gears is the speedo gonna be off?

^ probably

I would think that it’s ECU controlled though, so a simple flash/tune would probably take care of it

Speedo wont be off… The speedo is based off of the front wheel sensors…

@ 70 its 3500 RPM so not TOO bad… stock is ~ 3k

I’m trying to decide if i want to keep the car and S/C it, or just do 4.10’s and buy a project car i can smack up…

@ this point it doesn’t make sense for me to get another daily driver.

is this your only car? nothin sucks more than a fast car that blows up and you have nothing else to drive

edit: nvm i see you have more than one car =)

S/C it. I rebuilt a e30 diff. It took me a long fucking time to get everything right. Shit sucked.
