yeah i agree the c7 has a dialed interior…finally.

i just wish i could get the c7 interior in a c6 z06

It has a lacking interior.

I’m way more boring now - sold that house because the North Buffalo market went nuts and it cashed out hard. Made ~55% appreciation in 3 years, not even including the rents I collected. Bought something way newer in Orchard Park with a 2.5 car attached garage that requires no maintenance.

Why the change? Torque. My other strong consideration was a 991 Carrera S, but $ for $ it was a horrible decision. They were looking like 2012/2013 w/ 30k miles @ $80k. I also shopped a 2011 Elise which a guy had in Baltimore, but he bailed as soon as I asked to have the Lotus dealer check it over. Honestly, could’ve went for a 360 Modena with miles on it or something, but it would’ve been way less of a car than the C7 is. I wasn’t 100% sold on the Corvette stigma being <30 years old, but driving the new one put that to bed.

Les Stanford had a bunch of CTS V & ZR1 around. Few new Z06. Great lot. Unfortunately, didn’t have time to head down to the museum, but I did pass the Ford Global HQ on the way up Michigan Ave.

If you could give me the weight redux + displacement of the c6 z06 with the c7 body + interior, I think I’d pay a premium over the current z06. I’d prefer natural aspiration anyway. It is what it is though. These are definitely slower in a line but are damn near close to keeping up w/ the c6 z06 around a road course. I bet it’d be more tire & driver dependent than car dependent.

Real talks, the interior feels like a really okay mid-range Cadillac. Compared to Porsche, that’s still somewhere between dog shit and unacceptable. Compared to previous Corvettes, it’s the second coming.

I was just getting krant fired up. I don’t judge the interior of cars with nice TQ, I’m too busy doing burnouts.

Shitty cell phone photos, but it’s home in the garage. I’m way too lazy to break the DSLR out.

Observations:

  • It’s faster than I had assumed once you get used to it. It’s probably marginally slower than c6 z06 in a line, but down low it’s definitely more torquey with the DI. It scoots in any gear all of the time.
  • It legitimately pulls 30mpg highway in v4 mode. Not that fuel economy matters here, I was just surprised.
  • This car is comfortable as fuck as a highway cruiser.
  • The trick diff in the rear and magnetic suspension instills more confidence than should be legally allowed on public roads. At speeds where my old STi used to feel very “oh shit”, this car is shrugging.
  • Canadian borders let you both out and into the country with a Michigan temporary sticker and a pile of printed pieces of paper that mildly suggest you own the car. I’m really, really fucking surprised that they didn’t pull me out for “extra” inspection as I’m 26 and have a pretty good amount of visible tattoos. So anyway, fuck yeah America.

Found that this was a GM Company car (not a lease fleet car, but either a PEP or company issued vehicle), thus the very low miles. In doing some reading, these appear to have been driven as hard as any Corvette has been driven, but it appears that they receive all of their service/maintenance at the GM engineering shop directly. The printout I have for service history is basically an internal GM document. It appears that this was production #415 which would normally terrify me - except for the fact that I guarantee this one was bug tested. I don’t mind if it saw some hoonage because fuck yeah America - and if you garage queen your Corvette, you’re an asshole anyway. It’s a $60k car, not a fucking F40.

Hahaha, I got the sarcasm but there is some truth to it. Burnouts smell like America.

The pics are blocked at work but I fucking love everything about this thread.

love the rev match on these things great car/color

How much does your dealer hate service work on certified pre-owned cars? I need to pick a place out in the Orchard Park region since I’m not planning to drive back to Michigan  haha.

edit: The rev match works better than I ever anticipated.

Good, because America is fucking cool as shit.

Just going to transfer my plates on from the STi for now because I still have some time left on that registration. If I decide to go custom plate, which one of these two is the winner?

feel free to bring it down

The first time I sat in one I had no idea how to get out, lol. I always wondered what would happen if the electrical power just died, how would you get out?

You die.

Builds character.

Are you being serious?

There is a door release on the floor to manually open it

One for each door and you can manually open the hatch from the inside also if you crawled back there.

This is why people die in them…

Yes i’m serious. It is a tiny little button on the side of the door panel. How was I supposed to know it pops the door open? As for the manual release, is it hidden somewhere? I didn’t see it, not that I did a thorough look around or anything though.

On both sides…

Really not complicated or hidden lol
